Anyways, he and the majority of his colleagues are all super laid back and humble. One thing I have noticed about most truly successful people is that they don't have anything to prove and never brag, correct, or talk down to others. Also, they pursued something they truly enjoyed so they love to work.

They hear your words but somehow they keep building the wrong pictures with them, even when you're precise with your language, it feels like it has the opposite result in the end. It very much reminds me of the story of Tantalus, except with social interactions instead of food and water...And that is a far better analogy than used in video for strange connections intelligent people make between seemingly unrelated things. @@realsteverioux That's incorrect attribution. The adage has numerous origins; ultimately taking its most popular form from Charles Stewart's 1901 autobiography quoting history scholar Henry Thomas Buckle: "Men and women range themselves into three classes or orders of intelligence; you can tell the lowest class by their habit of always talking about persons; the next by the fact that their habit is always to converse about things; the highest by their preference for the discussion of ideas." After decades of social circulation, it was arbitrarily ascribed to Eleanor Roosevelt by a Kansas newspaper in 1987. Henry Thomas Buckle is the earliest recorded originator of the whole phrase. @cadencev55724 жыл бұрын
@New Vorld Sounds You don't have to change the world to qualify as someone unique. Being unique isn't something tied to your achievements or your successes, it's something granted to everyone. And leaders don't have to be different. They have to serve their followers, and they have to respect the individuality of each one. Leaders who claim to be unique are separating themselves from the people they lead. They're boasting their superiority in an attempt to make their followers feel inferior and common because they lack the "uniqueness" that only they possess. To be a true leader, you have to realize that everyone is different, and that you are not special. One of the qualities a leader should possess is humility. Knowing your weaknesses is the first step to changing them. Every single person is just as unique as you are, even if they've done nothing important with their lives. A leader is chosen by his people. And people are not mindless drones who lack individuality. They'll only choose a leader who puts the people first and himself second. This means stepping down from the pedestal you've created for yourself because you've somehow gotten the idea that people who don't strive for success, are inferior and common.

I am a perfectionist when it comes to certain aspects of my job too. When I'm alone and I get bored, I usually tend to think of new ideas I can put into motion to make my life better. I socialize very little and can't really stand "small talk." If you want to talk, have a reason to talk. Just because I haven't seen you in 20 years or more doesn't mean we have to talk. If that much time is long gone, maybe there was a reason we didn't talk at all.

I felt like I was watching a video that was developed just for me. I relate to everyone of them. While watching this video it made me smile because of how correct it is in relation to me. It also explains why me and my wife don't get along. She is the exact opposite, she's the social butterfly something I am definitely not.

Book smarts/study skills have zero to do with wisdom/intelligence. I have ADD/ADHD and I typically only do excellent in university in classes that I am interested in. I am a lifelong student and take all sorts of classes with no clear end goal except for History which I hope to get a PhD in. It takes me longer to get it because I have a disability that takes constant treatments /hospitalizations. I have met the wisest intelligent people who have little to no formal schooling, people who are homeless and/or addicts, etc and not around other academics such as when I was a teacher and a TA at a university.

Getting along in groups was something I learned with growing older. It's like you have to play beeing more ignorant or more simple minded in some social situations. People usually dont want a complex answer to a complex problem. Imagine your behaviour in a social group (your persona) more like a quick to understand headline rather than a scientific paper. Hope that makes sense. But comes with time. :)

8. You enjoy being alone. Me: I actually do. Not always, but being around people make me nervous. 7. You feel pressured. Me: The part of this video about feeling of failure and deep self criticism applies particularly harshly to myself. No matter how bad someone may treat me, believe me, I treat myself far worse. 6. You often daydream. Me: Yes. Only a couple have ever known this about me, but I often pictured my life as a soap opera. 5. You're open-minded. Me: Some folks may disagree, but I believe I am. I actually listen to opposing viewpoints (if given in a meaningful way and with PROOF of why they are right and I'm wrong. Someone simply saying I'm wrong and they are right will not work with me). 4. You're self control is exceptional. Me: Yes and No. It really depends on the situation. 3. Your indecisiveness stems from overanalyzing. Me: Of all of these, this is probably my biggest one. I overanalyze things severely...even when I have no reason to. The video says the problem is the more you overanalyze, the less likely you are to act. That is also me. I tend to shut down due to this, especially if I come to a conclusion that the end point will be pointless and/or worthless...whether it ultimately would be or not. 2. You often feel dissatisfied or unhappy. Me: Being my own worst critic and worst enemy, yep. The video says it is even worse for people without sufficient emotional support. Totally agree. According to the video, statistically, many with higher intelligence have far higher risks of suffering from depression. I am officially diagnosed with major double depression. 1. You connect concepts that seem unrelated. Me: I'm sure I do, but may not recognize that I do as I'm currently drawing a blank.

Applying to me: 8) enjoying being alone 7) I feel pressured (so much!). :( 6) daydreaming 5) only partly: open minded. I change my mind once in a couple of years, but then I stay stubborn. 4) it's more difficult for me to give up self control and to behave naturally, than the other way around 3) indecisiveness form over-analyzing: OMG, it's sometimes so torturing. And perfectionism makes my life hard. 2) dissatisfied and unhappy. Because I think about how it could be, what others have, what I don't have, what I could have, but still don't have etc. 1) I do connect concepts, that are unrelated. And people think, I'm crazy, or they feel disturbed, when I switch between topics, I see related to each other, but other people don't.

You guys are not getting the point. The fact that you have a few or no friends at all, do not make you a genius. Socially inept people are not intelligent. What makes one intelligent is if one prefers to be alone rather than to socialize on a superficial level. Smart people know how to socialize, build networks and expand their contacts to further their ventures. But they frown upon useless, meaningless chatter, like "duh...what's you favorite sports team, or what's your sign...etc.". They would rather talk about history, politics, the stock market, real estate, art and culture in general (yeah, music and movies too). If they feel that certain people bring them down, they would rather stay at home, read, search the net, or even binge watch tv series alone, rather than adhere to the basic social paradigm.

@vf1rj3716 жыл бұрын
@Gentile Uprising or they don't brag because they have nothing to brag about. But you're not really getting my point. The fact that one person doesn't have friends do not make them intelligent. That's my main point. Do not deviate from that. I am not talking about poilitics in general. I enumerated various worthwhile topics that intelligent people are into, not just politics. And it's a stretch to relate that to the dirty world of politicians. Just because one is interested in politics doesn't mean they are corrupt politicians. You're reaching.
@23lnp6 жыл бұрын
vf1rj its not always because of insecurity that people spend most of the time alone. In my instance i dont really like to socialise because i see the pretentiousness within everday encounters with people. Id prefer to have honest time with myself than spend dishonest time with pretentious people.

Other than that, I like being around people who know what they're talking about and who knows their stuff. I like educated people because that's how I learn. I don't like people who don't like to read, or people who think they know it all. I use my intelligence to help and inspire people. I love learning different things even if I don't get it at first. It definitely depends on what area one's highest intelligence or innate talents lies. Some incredibly smart people like having company around, just not a whole bunch of people and they usually prefer to have only a couple or so close friends. Also, people with higher than average or extremely high intelligence prefer to have meaningful conversations over idle chit-chat.
