All these places can and probably will get forgotten about over time. I once thought I was clever and put $60 into a paper towel tube. When the roll was finished, of course I threw it away. Did a dumpster dive and never found that money. When ink goes dry in Sharpies, when tv remotes no longer work, or when one moves out of their home, who will pull the floor vents up or the toilet lid off the back of a toilet. Sorry. Love your ideas, but this one can lead folks down a chancy path.

What would be the point in hiding something so unimportant that you would forget about it? If you hid cash somewhere that you forget about why did you hide it? It wouldn’t make much sense to just hide something and then forget about it, it’s most likely meant for something you hide and access later and then either put it back or use it for something else

Here's a good one: ( my own invention ) Find the cold air return in your room. It's about 7-8 feet off the floor. Remove the vent cover. Reach down in the wall about 6 inches and screw a cup hook into the wooden stud. There should be no insulation in the cold air return. Put your valuables in a plastic bag, the kind with handles. Hang the bag by the handles on the hook. Replace the vent cover. A thief would have to have a screwdriver and something to stand on. It's not going to happen unless he knows there is something there. Sleep tight.

In your phone cover or behind your phones back lid if it still has a removable battery. This was how I always had an extra 20 for emergencies. I also kept money in my sock when I go out but it's awful when you proceed to take out the money and it's wet. It's just an awkward situation especially when you're in public so I don't recommend this unless you really need to.

I wouldn't recommend the TV remote hiding place. If a burglar were to steal your TV, he'd probably take the remote too. That being said, TVs are quite large and not as easy to take out of the house so most burglar's will avoid them.

Get an old electric fuse panel with old wires or fuses. The older the more it looks like electrocution about to happen to anyone touching it. Then cut a hole in the wall to fit it and put all your valuables behind it.
