If anyone is still interested...the make and model of this bass.... Ktone 8 String Semi-Hollow Electric Bass...an ultra-cheapy that runs under $200 on eBay when you can find one. There's a 4-stringer version of the bass on eBay right now. But BUYER BEWARE...these are notorious for crappy worksmanship.

Hmm, I'm not sure myself of a song where one is used, but I'm sure there are some examples. The only thing I can think of that comes close sorta is Megadeth bassist David Ellefson created the bass riff for the song Dawn Patrol on an 8 string bass, but ended up using a 4 string bass for recording.
