The Fade in Dragon Age Origins is more likely referred to the Broken Circle quest and not the Mage Origin. It involves traveling around to gain different forms, often back tracking to get to new areas so you can find and defeat the five guardians to unlock access to the main demon. Then there are optional bits, like rescuing your companions from their dreams and find bonus attribute points. Thankfully, someone made a mod to skip most of the fade bit.
@rouliettapouet92135 жыл бұрын
Honestly, the Fade was far from being terrible , once you get the logic. And bonus attribute are very useful anyway.
@Higbo17105 жыл бұрын

Maybe they blocked that quest from their memories.

MrGaming679 OOOOOOOOHHHH

I think it's more the frustration than anything else - firstly you're relying on Smoke to do all the shooting so even if you follow the train perfectly then you can fail, and secondly if you do fail then you're left in the middle of nowhere and have to drive all the way back to town to retry it.
@kailomonkey6 жыл бұрын
I also passed this first time unpatched. But when I replayed from the beginning I found it an issue! It seemed that being in a logical position relative to the enemies did nothing to help Big Smoke to shoot the enemies. But then when you found the less logical 'magic spot' they all die easily. Then as the last commenter said, generally any mission in any game which takes a part of success out of your hands and into shoddy AI, feels incredibly unfair and frustrating to fail... Then Big Smoke BLAMES YOU with all the attitude of the worst faults of humanity.

@Neo-mt2lz8 жыл бұрын
GZLAnnihilation which mission was that?
@ThatIrishLass8 жыл бұрын
I disagree. I thought the Halamshiral Palace was one of the best in all of Inquisition. Like you (imho erroneously) said with the fade, it's easy to figure out what to do, and it gives us a first-hand experience of the infamous Orlesian world of cutthroat politics we've been told about for three games. And all of the endings are fantastic. The Fade(at least the 'Broken Circle' one with Sloth that we're talking about) is an annoying instance of having to do x to get y but you need z to get x, so first you have to get w, which is protected by z. It may be clear(again, up for debate) what you have to do but the level design was godawful--the Halamshiral mission was a bit more mysterious, maybe, but it was more enjoyable and once you knew what to do it was fairly easy. I've been able to get 90+ on every playthrough, and I make a lot of elves. I mean, for chrissakes, there's a *reason* the DA modding community has made several mods to skip the Fade. It's annoying. And adds very little to the actual story.

I understand how it could become dull, I mean I never really found it so, I but get it. If they had spiced up the Mako with more rpg elements (more weapon choices, maybe some kind of abilities) to match the rest of the game I certainly wouldn't have complained, probably would have made those sections at least a more interesting. As for the scanning I don't think anyone liked it, at all, makes you wonder how anyone in development thought that was a good idea. Unless of course you could sell the extra resources, then not so bad... well maybe for people who still hated all the time being wasted doing it.

@guftders8 жыл бұрын
Ok, so I did Deus EX HR on the hardest difficulty, and this is how you beat the first boss (the others are stupidly easy after the first dude): YES. Invest in stealth if you're aiming for Pacifist. No question. If you want to kill everyone, don't bother, and invest in armor, fall damage and strength. Pacifist you'll want to prioritise Social Enhancer and Hacking skills (really helps you sneak around). HOWEVER. You REALLY don't need the tranq rifle (assuming you picked it up). Stun Gun is WAY better, and takes up less space. Get an assault rifle (if aiming for pacifist). Not even kidding. It helped me SOO much against Barratt. Get it early, and use. EVERY. SINGLE. Upgrade on it that you get. Once you've got as many upgrades are available in the first area, it will churn out damage like nothing. Also, use cover as much as possible. Don't poke your head up unless he's recharging the machine gun. Also. EMPs. Save them up like they're fucking gold. Cannot stress how important they are in keeping him from attacking. Try and save up the frags too, but obv, since you won't get the wall punch aug, it might not be feasible. TL;DR. For Pacifist, get an assault rifle early, Upgrade it a tonne, and your good to go.Hope this helps! :)
@Twilitparadox7 жыл бұрын
Yeah... the Director's Cut edition fixes that problem by including a New Game + option that let you carry over all of your upgrades from the previous run, giving you the potential to fully max out your Augs by the end of your second play through. At that point the game practically plays itself and the bosses are almost laughably easy to take down. As you must have been playing the standard edition though, I can see how you would have had a hard time, to say the least.

I know I'm a bit late to the party on this video, but if you guys do another one like this, I have a nomination from yesteryear: The stupid "turbo tunnel" section in the stupid Battletoads game where you have to jump that stupid cart thingy over the stupid wedges. I'm guessing most people used the jets way too much, and that's why they had trouble controlling it. The car actually handles quite well if you keep all wheels planted on the ground, but give people a jump button and they'll pretend they're on a pogo stick.

As someone who just finished literally 2 hrs of cursing out the cameraman and their entire family tree bc of the janky-as-all-hell camera angles causing repeated failures in a simple puzzle, I submit the Power Plant level from Heavy Rain. The camera's already dodgy enough in the rest of the game, but its problems get amplified in that level and turn an otherwise straightforward puzzle into a teeth-grinding nightmare that makes you want to kill the protag for that section so you can get handed off to literally anybody else who's not in the godforsaken purgatory of the pipe maze

Luxaurus That's the main Fade part. A lot of the clips they were showing is the intro Fade segment if you started as a mage which I almost never did. Rogue/Thief types for life! The longer fade bit in DAO is definitely the most annoying quest in the fade. I don't think there's a quest in the fade that I actually like. The mage starter one in DAO is also annoying. Getting Hawke's friends out of the desire demon's grasp in DA2 was a little tedious. And even with the plot points, I didn't find the fade part after Adamant in DAI particularly interesting. (Also a little tedious, but you can run through it pretty quick if you don't do the side quests.) There are plenty of terrible areas in great games. Vault 34 from Fallout NV, for instance. Navigating that underwater, heavily irradiated maze looking for passwords is hell. Especially if you don't have the rebreather yet. The rest of it's not great fun either.

I managed a shield and made/sword recently, but I'm not as good with those. Now, which one do you need? Or would you prefer some general help, like where to go, or where to get some good loot? I'd love to help out

Blighttown was frustrating...something that Dark Souls usually isn't. I replayed SA recently when they released it on the PS4 and the train mission was still frustrating as hell. Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, but I had no issues with driving the mako in the original Mass Effect and truly enjoyed the exploration. Dimitrios Zotos It's not that the batmobil plays badly. The problem was that there were too many parts of the game dedicated to it.

Aidan Palkin it was incredibly overused and painfully tedious. We want to play as batman not a tank

It was used wisely. I liked every bit of it. Except for Deathstroke boss fight

The fact that you're in it so often and that it doesn't have enough depth in its combat to be entertaining. Most people don't want to drive a car in a game all about its melee combat.

The moment I saw Blighttown on this list I immediately said "No!" out loud, that area is my favorite in the entire game due to just what it represents.

Ah yes 400 years later in ME your vehicle is better but you look freaky and when fighting, flitting about wearing a rocket pack, you look like a fly having convulsions. What's wrong with the boss fights in Dues Ex? With Bull you have all those conveniently placed red explosive cannisters there for you. Plus with all the upgrades available Bull hasn't fixed his Mr. Magoo eyesight? Later when you fight the female boss, if you've upgraded correctly, Adam can bust a bullet move or two to kill her. I f not you just electrocue her as she runs around the unmopped floor.

the1stJZ you can take down Namir with one takedown

I realize you wrote this nearly a year ago, but the problem with the Deus Ex boss fights was that they forced you into lethal combat despite the rest of the game encouraging diverse play-styles. The bosses aren't very hard, they're just a complete departure from the way many were playing and enjoying the game. I hated being forced into those fights because that's just not how I was approaching literally everything else in the game.

Okay the bike bits in Tomb Raider Underworld were absolute ass (just like the whole game) but the bike segments from Legend actually weren’t that back. Maybe this is an unpopular opinion but I kinda liked them 🤷🏻♀️

I liked them in Legend too, they were both fun and cool racing sections along a pretty straightforward path full of ramps and explosions. Underworld on the other hand, failed because they tried to make the motorcycle part of a bunch of puzzles and you had to use a bunch of precision steering to balance the vehicle on a pressure plate and other such nonsense.

I really liked the motorbike segments in Tomb Raider: Underworld. Once you get used to the controls, it was really fun to zoom around and (towards the end) crash into the undead to insta-kill them. And it just added to the super-stylish game mechanics of the second iteration of Tomb Raider.
