My first trip in 2004 I was 10. I was in line to see Chip n Dale, they are my absolute favorites. But when my turn came up the castmember said Chip n Dale had to leave. I was really upset and sat on the edge of my brother's double stroller. And Chip made a detour he wiped my tears away and gave me a kiss on the head. Made me feel good thank you Chip ❤

Honestly guests being awful to me when I was a cast member was a huge reason why I resigned. I was constantly being harassed about things I couldn’t change in departments that I had no control over. Once a guest kept yelling at me because an EPCOT restaurant wasn’t open yet and another guest let their child smash a glass bottle at my feet and it cut my legs. It was exhausting how often people acted like I wasn’t a person or that I was somehow responsible for EVERYTHING that went wrong during their stay.

Honestly, being a CM really toughens you up. One of the reasons why I disliked it was I worked with crappy people. I just couldn't believe the amount of just terrible people who abused their power I was working under at my position.

I live in Florida have an annual pass and go to Disney once or twice a month. I don't understand why people are so nasty, they are on vacation and at the happiest place on earth. I remember in florida when it was the evening fireworks, and none of my family were really bothered about them. Managed to get four rides on big thunder. Ride operator didn't even lift up the restraints at the end of the third time, he just asked if we were gonna queue up again. There was no one else waiting, we said yes, he hit the button and we shot off for the fourth ride. XD

1. Being diabetic, I would probably use my snack credits on water or save them up to get fudge for my friends. 2. Yes, this is Dangerous! 3. As a former cast member, we are there to try and make you feel better. So if you have a problem, talk to your castmember and they might just be able to make your day. 4. To be fair, Mobile Order is still kinda new so I can understand why people don't do that. 5. Also, if you have a Fast Pass you don't want to miss, pay attention to the time on your phone. I don't know if the app has an alarm, but if not set an alarm on your phone for 30 minutes before your Fast pass to give you time to make it. 6. Going early and staying late is a good idea, or do both. Come in early, once the crowds start getting too big, leave and get some rest and come back later like around 5 or 6 PM, maybe even catch a nap. 7. Also, if you aren't staying in the parks, you can have your packages sent to the front gate for pick up as you leave. This is a service that anyone can use, not just those staying at the parks. Also, some resorts have a special location where you have to pick up your purchases if you prefer. 8. I've never used a park bag, but here is a list of the few things you might want to bring: A. Sunscreen (No one wants to ruin their vacation with a sunburn) B. Umbrella or Poncho ( It can rain at any time at the parks) C. A Fuel Rod or other Battery charger for your phone (Disney has Fuel Rod kiosks at every park and resort so you can trade them out) That is the bare minimum you might need to take with you. If you have a baby and you forget something, the parks each have a baby center where you can get emergency baby supplies by the First Aid Stations. OK, this got a bit out of hand, sorry.

If you're staying at a hotel and catching the bus to a park fold up that stroller before you get to the door. There is nothing worse than someone with one of those huge strollers standing there, blocking everyone else while they fold that monstrosity up. It's not just Disney's policy that kids can't ride in strollers on a bus, that is standard for everywhere and everyone should know it, but you can't get on a bus going to the parks without waiting for that one family, trying to figure out all the levers and buttons to fold the thing up.

ocularnervosa This makes me so nervous. I’m planning on taking my autistic 4yo son to WDW for the first time and I was told that I could use his stroller as a wheelchair, so he could have accessible access. Does this not include the bus? He rides in his stroller on our city bus at home....the accessible seats fold up to make room. Do American buses not do that??
@sinthesciencekid4451
@sinthesciencekid4451 5 жыл бұрын
Denise Wreford buses do have seats that fold up in the front of the bus but that is for wheelchairs as there is a plethora of people that bring strollers on the bus unfolded which conflicts with 1) taking up walking space 2) makes it harder for older people and people in wheelchairs to get on . Im not sure on your situation nor will I assume about it , but I suggest getting him a wheelchair if possible or letting him sit on the seats if you can . If not explain to the bus driver and see what he can do for you hun.

Naai G.C OK, thank you! I know that in the park his stroller will have some sort of band or ribbon thing (to alert staff) that makes it equivalent to a wheelchair. If the seats do fold up, I am hopeful that having his stroller being marked by the park as being a wheelchair equivalent would be enough to grant him access, but I will definitely call and ask! Thank you for the advice! I certainly don’t want to be annoying to other people or finding myself in a dangerous/stressful situation that could be avoided simply by calling a cab instead.

The first time I went to a Disney park, we watched the second launch of the space shuttle "Columbia." On the hood of our stainwagon. In 2015 I had the chance to go Disneyland while visiting Anaheim for Star Wars Celebration. I was in my Rebel Legion shirt (it's a charity doing costume club) waiting for my party to finish a ride. I was being treated for vertigo at the time and couldn't ride. Two CM's dressed as First Order Storm troopers came up and started to treat me as a "Rebel infiltrator.". I played along and had a wonderful time. I looked up at one point and I had a circle of people out around me filming everything. After our little performance, an elderly couple asked me when the next performance was. They thought I was a cast member manager. I told them I was just a park goer and that cat members make everyone feel great. They were so happy and told their Grand children to always be nice and play along with CM's and they'll get to do it too.😄😄😄

I haven't been to Disneyworld in years, but I did go to Dollywood last year. They measured all the kids right inside the front gate and gave them those paper wrist bands. Then the ride operators always knew who was tall enough or not (and they could re-measure anyone they thought may have tried to switch wristbands). It was a pretty darn good system actually and kept the lines moving. And parents and kids knew right away what they could ride or not and avoid the whole trying to sneak on thing.

I think one of the things people often do that does not make sense is that you don't take a break. They go from first thing in the morning till the park closes even if there are magic hours with the zero break even with small children. By about 1 or 2 in the afternoon you're tired and it's probably the hottest part of the day and usually the most crowd. Go back to the hotel take a rest and come back refreshed. Especially if you're at a park that has Late Night Magic hours. We usually leave at 1 and come back at around 4 or 5 refresh and ready for another fun time in the park. And this also piggybacks onto the not over packing your bag because if you're taking a break in the afternoon you can switch out things in your bag that you might not need in the evenings but you need in the morning. You can also add things that you might need so you don't have to carry a full day worth of snacks and whatever else you need

My mum and dad started traveling with us internationally since we were little and we’d walk 10 km a day easily and not complain, Disneyland Paris was a breeze for my brother & I (8 & 4yrs old respectively the first time we went) my parents just made sure we had a cold bottle of water, & that whenever we had a long wait time for rides that we’d sit on the floor and rest for a bit, they never had to deal with a meltdown (neither when traveling or when visiting Disney) and we always wanted to stay even longer! Yes, take a break if your kids are prone to meltdowns if they don’t take a nap, but at the same time, you’re paying so much to be there, that id use my parents strategy and enjoy the whole day going on rides!

Being kind to the staff at Disney can definitely get to some sweet bonuses. But being rude can also get you onto a blacklist that is spread across the park so other staff can be prepared for the shit you might give. And I don't think anybody would want to be on the blacklist in Disneyland or world...lol
@thelisarahman
@thelisarahman 5 жыл бұрын
To expand on being rude to cast members, do not be that jerk who stops in the middle of a cleared walkway to watch the fireworks. If you wanna watch the fireworks, arrive early enough to get a place to watch. But standing in a cleared space while a cast member is yelling at you to move and you refuse to do so is annoying. To the cast member, to you who is being yelled at and to the other guests around you who want to watch the show without hearing cast members on speakers yelling “this is not a fireworks viewing area. Keep moving” they make it clear when the fireworks are. If you didn’t make it early enough, that’s not the cast members fault. So don’t stand somewhere and refuse to move because you didn’t plan ahead of time to find a place to stand for the fireworks where you won’t get yelled at. The walkways are cleared out for a reason and it’s not so you can stand in a crowd free zone to watch the fireworks. And don’t be rude to cast members who get in your face when you refuse to move because you’re trying to watch the fireworks. It’s not their fault you didn’t plan your day accordingly so you could watch the fireworks.
@skabs508
@skabs508 5 жыл бұрын
Also, if you do plan ahead and you get to your spot early, thank you, but STAND UP. Sitting down and spreading your crap around makes it just that much harder for people to find good spots. @thelisarahman

gondorbunny it’s especially true at Disney. Like they justify the amount of money it cost to get there for their terrible behavior. I remember a family (mom dad and daughter) stopped by some trash cans in the middle of a cleared walkway during the fireworks and a cast member asked them to move and they LOOKED PAST HER like she didn’t exist when she told them they had to move. So she kept repeating herself and waving her light up wand in their face and eventually the father was like “we are watching the fireworks” and the CM was like “you can’t stand here” and he was like “THEN TELL ME WHERE TO GO!” And she literally was “idc where you go but you can’t stay here” like really?! Why are people like that?? If the fireworks were something you needed to see, you shoulda found a spot an hour before the show started. Your fault you didn’t do that and now it’s packed.

skabs508 I work at DCA on the west coast but got pulled to the Disneyland side on New Years Eve to help with guest control and I was in front of the castle making sure the walkway was clear, and I can’t tell you how many people just refused to listen and stopped right there to take a bunch of pics or try to watch what was happening at the castle. Stopping to take one quick pic is totally fine, but when they linger it becomes an issue bc then more people start lingering. And then right before midnight, a guest took down one of the ropes and a big crowd came flooding the walkway. It took me and several other CMs plus a lead and a manager to get the big crowd to go back because they’d created a fire hazard by filling the walkway and not budging when asked 🙃

And when you do decide to stop in a cleared zone and the cast members have clearly given up trying to clear you and others out, and you are now blocking all twenty people behind you who got there early for ‘front row’ seats, don’t put your twelve year old daughter up on your shoulders and be even more of a jerk. The kids we are seeing go up on shoulders is RIDICULOUS. 3-4 year olds MAX please!

3:30 Here’s a fun story that got my family family of the day. For some context, I was 5 at the time and my brother was 7. My dad was an early riser. I can’t remember which hotel we were staying at, but all I remember was catching a bus at 7:00 in the morning. Once we arrived at the gates, my brother and I were being pretty reckless, being little kids and all. In order to distract my brother and I’s tomfoolery, my mom started talking to gat security lady. Her friendliness with the lady eventually lead to the question of being family of the day. This was most likely not the day magic hours were running or before the system was implemented, because we had the full park to ourselves for pictures. So being nice to cast members can really be great and lead to some great photos. Just keep that in mind in case your dads a nutcase like mine.

Found a great tip for bag packing. Use packing cubes to organize bags and stroller compartments. On a recent trip we had all the baby needs in a set of packing cubes in the compartment under her stroller. These had see through top mesh and the security would simply look them over / squeeze them most times then let us through. We could pull them out and get them back in the stroller so quickly that it was not an issue. Plus you can grab only the one you need when going to change a diaper.

You can get your purchases sent to the front of the park to pick up later even if you're not staying on property! :D It's exactly like the resort package pickup, except you go to a location at the front of the park to pick up your purchases. It takes a few hours, so don't have them send it if you're about to leave the park, but it's fantastic and I get everything I buy sent to the front so I don't have to carry it around all day.

Also with purchasing items within the park, depending on the time of day you can send your items to the front of the park and pick them up as you leave! If you’re switching park and have a bunch of purchases too you can leave the bags at guest services and pick them up as you’re walking out! My fiancé and I did this when we last went and it was amazing

6:44 - I've only been to Disney World once. I was 12 and most of my brothers wanted to go on fight of passage. We loved intense rides, and still do. None of us had seen the movie before. It is now my favorite ride at Animal Kingdom. We watched Avatar later that night after going back to the place we were staying at because we loved the ride so much.

The last one is even better than you might think. Most hotels don't want to store everyone's things from the day, so most of the time your stuff ends up in your actual hotel room. There's only been once that I had to retrieve my things from the gift shop and that was at Saratoga and because I was about to leave. Most days we came home to find our souvenirs sitting on our dining table.

Don’t forget about package pickup at the front of the park as well! Anything you purchase in the parks (excluding non-sealed food) can be sent to the front of the park to pick up on the way out after 3 hours. And if something happens where you’re about to leave and it’s within the 3 hours, don’t hesitate to ask if a package is available early. If it’s not, they will usually retrieve the package from the original location for you! (But PLEASE don’t have a package sent to the front of the park and then expect to pick it up on the way out 15 minutes later. The service is best utilized when shopping earlier on in the day and you don’t want to have those bags in line or sitting in the stroller.)

I agree with going early but with little ones it's not always easiest. We just got back last week and our first day, we went to MK at 8am and we did the following all before lunch: Meet Mickey & Minnie, Peter Pan, It's a Small World, Under the Sea, meet Ariel, 7 Dwarves Mine Train, Winnie the Pooh ride, Haunted Mansion. By lunch(about 1pm) the crowd was ridiculous. However, by the end of the trip the kids were at the end of their tether especially after doing 3 straight early days(getting up at 6am). However, the last day after breakfast at Crystal Palace, we were able to get on Splash Mountain with no wait(wife and daughter went through a 5 minute stand by while I waited probably about 30 minutes.

This past Christmas time I was fortunate enough to be in line at the Main St Confectionery directly behind two ladies who represented their family of 14 (no joke...14!!!) who while on their 10 day vacation had used up a total of ZERO snack credits!!! They apparently had to spend every credit at that store then and there. I’m quite sure this was their last opportunity to use their credits before their vacation was over. It was at closing time and the store was packed. This is no exaggeration. They were literally spending 140 snack credits like this: “Give me aaaaa Minnie Sugar cookie, Ummmm 4 Marshmallow Mickeys, like ummm 2 Snickerdoodles, 2, no no no, 3 Chocolate Chip...How many credits do I have left? 130? OK...Ummm 2 Rice Krispy Treats....” for over 20 minutes this went on all while random grand kids should run up, interrupt the ladies and ask for a M&M cookie or some crap. Finally a couple of the Cast Members came over and started taking people’s orders and hand walked us to another cash register. I have no idea how long it took to get these two ladies taken care of but I can say that they certainly didn’t care about how long it was taking and were totally oblivious as to the major problem that they were causing and the number of people in line who were furious at them for what they were doing. If your reading this and you were one of those ladies please apologize and swear to never be “That Guy” again.

I don't see it as that big of a deal. They could have had all 14 of the people in their party standing in line and each placing individual orders. I waited in line just like you did sorry but I have a large family

Julie Castillo Oh...I don’t know? How about thinking ahead of time, spreading your last minute purchases over a couple of days, maybe making a dang list before hand, being courteous to the cast members helping you because they were obviously getting annoyed with you, being courteous to the 30 people patiently waiting in line behind you (I was by no means the only person pissed at these idiots but I was polite...Others were not so polite hence the actions of other cast members) and not waiting to the last possible minute to buy your stuff. I have visited WDW with a large party as well. There were 8 of us on this trip. Our purchase took less than 2 minutes. I’ve also gotten to the end of my trip with unused snack credits. That’s why I’m a TIW member now and will never buy meal plans again. That being said, I never waited to the last minute to spend them. I don’t care if I had 200 snack credits left over. I would never be the jerk who would stand there like a freakin deer in the headlights and order stuff the way they did. If you don’t understand why doing something like that makes you a jerk and why it’s discourteous to others then I guess your destined to be “That Guy”.

I later learned Universal Studios photographers will not take your picture with your personal camera. That is definitely not the case at Disney! There is no harm in asking a photographer to use your camera so the entire family can be in the picture. And, why not let them take your photo as well with their camera? It's free to check out their pictures and there is no obligation to purchase their photos.

Dont think just because you have small children and/or a stroller that you can do whatever you want. Ive had parents with kids push me out if the way on their way to a ride, or when there are fireworks. Ive had parents either run into my ankles with their stroller or just stop in the middle on the walkway to look at the pamphlets or talk to said kid in stroller. Neither time does anyone ever say sorry. But like look at the pamphlets while in line or go to the side to deal with stuff. But dont stop in the middle of the main walkway to do so. Also watch where you put that stroller. Say sorry if you do hit someone.

Regularising mobil ordering- I was in Disney world January last year. I couldn’t get into my account to check my fast passes (luckily had written them down) let alone get on to do mobil ordering of food. If you are from abroad or depending on your phone contract you may NOT be able to get the internet and Mobil order even if you want to. That’s probably why so many people don’t do- because they can’t get a strong enough internet signal. Yes I know there is free wifi in the parks but that may not always be enough depending of the quantity of people using it at specific times. Especially at busy times of year.

That's going to be a really hard video as Disney is just crawling with sugar and wheat. Really the places that come to mind that have a variety of whole foods that are not sugar or wheat are the fruit stands or whatever they're called. However, most restaurants both QSR and table service typically have "healthier" non-sugary and non wheat options. As what Elizabeth said, definitely let Disney know when ordering food made to order your dietary restrictions.

I wish they would have an option to straight up charge mobile orders to the room if you’re a Disney resort guest. It’s kinda wack that mobile ordering charges are handled separately from that.

We did mobile ordering at the parks to save time and when we returned to the resort, we paid the balance with our Disney gift cards. We also saved 5% on each Disney gift card by purchasing them at Target with our red card debit card before our trip.

Thanks for the video. Very informative. Will probably only go in 2 years when kids are old enough, so it leaves time to prepare. But I will only do it for the kids, I don't know if it's your video or something else, but all this seems very tedious ... seems like a money pit. Is there any fun left to have? Waiting in line for hours, overpaying for food and hotel , having to carry "gifts". Looks like forced enjoyment. My wife tells me it's magical... but she went 30 years ago. I've never been. Maybe it's just me.

It's magical if you let it be...or you can be critical of everything that happens and let it be a disappointment. We're in our 60s and we've already gone at least 4 times this year (Season Pass Holders 4 years in a row). We no longer plan our day (other than getting Fast Passes to our favorite rides when we can), but we do see people who criss-cross the park multiple times because they didn't do a little planning ahead of time. This makes for very tired children (and adults) because they spend a lot of time trying to walk through crowds, then stand in long lines when they're exhausted. Here are some tips for waiting in lines with kids - (1) play a game with your kids. I saw some teens playing a Disney trivia game with each other on their phones - it was cute to watch them and they were having a fun time. (2) Everyone is always talking about spending "quality time" with their kids, but fail to take advantage of an hour (or more) of just standing in a line with them. Talk about the last ride - what was their favorite part, etc. (3) Play a movie for your kids on your phone (maybe the Disney movie for the ride you're waiting for???) Be sure to take a mobile charger with you - and headphones with a splitter if you have more than one child. (4) Buy battery-operated fans to keep everyone cool. Of course - these things require "planning"...see why it's important?

My husband and I were at Disney when his stepdad passed away. We had to leave several days early and went to the front desk to cancel the rest of our trip and stuff. The cast member did so much for us including giving us all the money back for the rest of the nights and the meals we didn’t use. I love that cast member. He made a really hard time much easier.

My husband ended up getting the flu while we were there many years ago. He was in bed rest while I would get food to bring back from the commissary. There was a cast member serving up the food that I saw in evening. I told her my husband was sick in bed so, she made him a cup of chicken noodle soup every night for me to pick up until he was better. It wasn’t a menu choice and, I know it’s easy enough to make but, she went the extra mile during dinner hours to do that for me. Also I wasn’t charged for the soup. When he was better he thanked her very much for the soup and, we gave glowing statements to the restaurant manager and, to the hotel management.

#9: Drag your kid on a ride they clearly don't want to go on. It completely ruins a ride on Haunted Mansion when the Doom Buggy next to you has a toddler screaming in terror the entire time. And before you say Haunted Mansion isn't that scary, I will say as someone who kept their eyes clamped shut the entire time when they first went to Disney -- it's not the reality of the Mansion, it's the anticipation of something scary that causes the panic.

100% agree with the last sentence. the first time i rode haunted mansion, i was terrified - my anxiety made me freak out & i spent the whole ride with my eyes shut, trembling. the second time i went on, i knew nothing was going to jump out at me or harm me, and it was much more enjoyable

Kelsi Parker The first time (that I remember. I had been to Disney once when I was 5 but have very few memories of it) that I went on the haunted mansion I was 13 years old and I was TERRIFIED of going on the haunted mansion. For a quick backstory, I went with my step mom and step sister who had been to Disney loads of times before and they assured me it wasn't scary, but up until that point, my only experience with "haunted" things were haunted hayrides back home where the main goal was to make to pee yourself in fear and usually ended up with someone crying. So in my defense, I had a different expectation going into it. I quickly figured out that they were right and now it's one of my favorite rides, but I could absolutely see how a young child would be scared out of their minds going on that ride. Heck, the pop ups in the grave yard scene still spook me. I just realized that I've been rambling for too long, so I'll just make my point. TL;DR: I totally agree that the haunted mansion probably could be too spooky for young children who are afraid of the dark and/or ghosts and monsters

One trip, when I was 8 or 9, my family was going on Space Mountain for the first time. My sister, who was 6 at the time, wasn’t tall enough to ride. She was quite upset and she had to stay with my grandparents while my parents and I rode Space Mountain. The cast member at the door could tell that she was upset, even though she wasn’t showing it, and to cheer her up he gave her a voucher for the Disney store. He also gave me a snack credit. My sister then went and bought a Pluto toy and she absolutely loved it. The cast members are great at Disney and will always try to make your trip the best it can be. Remember that

Similar thing happened to me! When I was pretty young, I was too afraid to ride the Indiana Jones adventure at Disneyland. The cast member stayed with me in line while my family went aboard. She talked with me a bunch, although it was pretty loud in there. She also gave me a card to decode the secret message in the cue! I didn't know what it was though so I lost it xD

From my experience, the fact that there was a height requirement for space mountain was absolutely insane. Pretty cool that they gave your sister a voucher though.
@CharaTheComedianDreemurr
@CharaTheComedianDreemurr 4 жыл бұрын
@@barstoolschalkdust The reason for height is because kids who are too small and can slip from under the restraints. Also because they have more space they get thrown around a lot and can receive a concusion or other injuries, Disney wants to avoid lawsuits for that reason and don't need another death because a kid is too short.

Being nice to cast members! I can attest to this one!! Last time my family went to Disney I was 8 months pregnant. My daughter (7) wanted to see her favorite princess Aurora, so we got in line only to be told by a cast member that Aurora wasn’t taking anymore kids this evening, as it was getting close to her “bed time”. My daughter was slightly disappointed, but my pregnant self LOST IT. I couldn’t stop crying no matter how hard I tried! The cast member felt HORRIBLE, even though I kept telling her it was ok, I was just pregnant, and couldn’t control it. She asked us to come back in about 20 minutes, and so we sat on a bench nearby, and I sobbed the entire time. The girl came back with a Mickey ice cream for my 7 year old, and a Aurora Christmas ornament, took us to a private area near by, and surprised us with a PRIVATE 1 on 1 meet and greet with princess Aurora!
