One of the profound meanings of “I am the Immaculate Conception” goes unnoticed even by many of its apologists and proponents. By identifying herself in this way, aside from validating the doctrine of her sinlessness, it also declares to humanity that God’s plan for us in this world begins at our conception. This was a profound prophesy for a world gravitating towards increasing levels of crimes against the unborn throughout the history since her appearance at Lourdes when she equated her life with her conception.

Why does my parish have tomorrow as a Holy day of obligation? Today is the Feast day? I don’t get it. I know Sundays are holy days of obligation anyway, but today is the eighth so I’m confused.
@catholicguides1Ай бұрын
This is because Dec. 8 is the Second Sunday of Advent. Some holy days of obligation that fall on a Sunday are often celebrated either on the preceding Saturday or the following Monday, which is the case this year for the Immaculate Conception

Getting to the point Mary was concieved without original sin. It has nothing to do with the actual birth of Jesus.
@luizadaniells348Ай бұрын
If Mary was conceived without original sin then God would have used her to pay the price for everyone's sin. Because all were sinners born under the Adam race, God sent His Son Jesus who was conceived by the power of the Holy Ghost, so He only was born without original sin and He didn't sin.
@jimantonino4394Ай бұрын
Why oh why does the Gospel of Matthew run thru an exhaustive lineage from Abraham to David and down to Joseph to show that Jesus is of the house of David, when at the end of it Joseph is not the biological father of Jesus? I’ve never understood what Matthew’s point was with this scriptural inclusion.
@catholicguides1Ай бұрын
Joseph was not a biological Father of Jesus because Jesus was only conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit but he is a descendant of David. Mary is the daughter of David, through her father, Joachim/Eli, which is a descendant of Prince Nathan, a direct son of King David. While her mother, Anna/Anne, probably came from the family of Elizabeth, mother of John Baptist, which is Aaronite Levite
@jimantonino4394Ай бұрын
@ thank you for your response. yes, and I have heard this very thing, but aside from Mary’s lineage, the decent from David to Joseph is meaningless. That’s my point. Joseph is/was never a blood relation to Jesus, according to scripture, so I am always struck by the lineage inclusion. I’m Italian. If I was given up for adoption, and adopted by and Irish family…am I Irish..How is Joseph’s lineage of import?
@luizadaniells348Ай бұрын
@@catholicguides1so if Mary's parents were Joaquim and Anne, so Mary was born with original sin. Don't spread lies.

I am amazed that all the commenters here are giving Mary all the praise for what only God can do ! Mary does not heal you God does , Mary can not hear you God does , Mary will not be at your side when death happens as Luke 16:19-31 the angels carry you not Mary: The famous “Hail Mary” is a Catholic reminder of the supposed power of approaching Mary as a mediator between God and man. However, praying to Mary not only stands in direct conflict with Biblical commands on worship and prayer, but also devalues the beauty of the work of Christ as our High Priest and intercessor. So just where do you find Mary doing all these acts in the scriptures? At what point did you decide to not read God's written word and accept it as truth, and judge what you are taught by anyone in the light of scripture?
@jimantonino4394Ай бұрын
I understand your comment, as many Protestant Christian friends have similarly made these points. Yet, all of my Christian friends will pray for one another, and rightly so; evan prayer chains etc. Likewise, Catholics ask Mary (and the saints) to pray for us, NOT to mediate for us, but to pray. Just as my friends will ask friends to pray for those in need. “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availaith much” James 5:16. James tells us that those who are righteous have effectual prayer, so it makes sense to seek the prayers of those who have attained holiness in their lives. We are all spirit, Mary, the saints, and even the angels can be sought to join us in prayer - not intercede, not mediate, but join with their greater righteousness. Blessings to you and Merry Christmas..
@brucewmclaughlin9072Ай бұрын
@@jimantonino4394 The difference here is that nowhere in scripture does it ever tell you to pray to the dead in Christ ( saints ) but each verse that ells you to pray for one another is between living breathing believers on earth . No one is saying the dead saints are dead , they are alive in the heavenly realm with Jesus .Eph 2:6 James 5:16 you have living people praying for other living people and the context includes the righteous prayers making a great difference and there is no concept in that verse that would point to someone in heaven as being more righteous than a believer in Christ is . Our righteousness comes from Christ, not from us at all.
@jimantonino4394Ай бұрын
@ Thank you. I know there is debate about prayers being effectual for the dead, but our Lord tells us in John 15:7, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” So I have always taken “whatever you wish” to mean just what it says. So I do pray for my deceased loved ones. And thank you for the verse from Luke.
@jimantonino4394Ай бұрын
@@brucewmclaughlin9072 The “Hail Mary”, is a petition to Mary to pray for us, per catholic doctrine, not a prayer to Mary. Many Catholics however do not discern the difference.
@brucewmclaughlin9072Ай бұрын
@@jimantonino4394 As a Catholic do you not read the scriptures and question what you are taught? The CCC 2679 tells us you do pray to Mary and you do ask her to pray for you so why do you consider that to be correct when 73 books of the bible shows us by example that no one prays to anyone other than God. No one asks anyone to convey their prayers to anyone either?
@luizadaniells348Ай бұрын
What nonsense are u talking, Jesus is the only one conceived by the Holy Ghost. Mary was born of natural parents both were from David's generation. Joachim and Anne are her parents. Read the Bible. It's high time the catholic church has to give importance to Jesus who is the Saviour of the world and not anyone else.
@luizadaniells348Ай бұрын
Mary was born without original sin, wrong. Since she was born by natural parents just like us was born with original sin. If she was born without original sin and didn't sin then she would be used to pay the price for our sins. The Bible says there is no one without sin and we all need a Saviour. Mary calls God her Saviour. Because there was not one born without sin because we were all born under the Adam race, God had to send His Son Jesus. Why do you spread lies, what will u get when u lose your own soul and that of others. What will it profit a person to gain the whole world and lose their soul. Where in the Bible it's given Mary was born without original sin? Please dont quote the Pope or any other books of the Catholic Church, quote the Bible.

The Biblical Mary, which is the real Mary, and the Catholic Mary, which is the counterfeit Mary, are two totally different Mary. The Biblical Mary was the wife of Joseph and after Jesus was born, Mary and Joseph had at least 6 other children, 4 sons, and art least 2 daughters. Matt 13:55-56 and Mark 6:3 "NIV" The 4 sons are named, but not the daughters, But Mathew used the word "SISTERS", in plural. Matt 12:56. Also one of Mary and Joseph sons name was James. James was Jesus half-brother and also one of Jesus 12 disciples. Jesus and James grew up together, Which is why John wrote: "The disciple whom Jesus loved" John 19:26.John used the word "LOVED" Past tense, not the word "LOVE" Present tense. The disciple at the cross was James, not John. "The gospel is Johns" Jesus called Mary a "WOMAN," woman here is your son. John 19:26. {referring Mary to the disciple}. Then to the disciple Jesus said: And to the disciple, "Here is your mother, from that time on the disciple took her to his home John 19:27... Jesus made it very clear in John 19:27, that the disciple was James, one of Mary and Joseph biological sons. Another one of Mary and Joseph sons name is Joseph, Joseph was named after his father Joseph the husband of Mary. Both Matt 13:55-56 and Mark 6:3 The first two names of Mary Sons on the list are "James, and Joseph"...And the disciple who took Mary to his home was her son James. John 19:27.
