@Falchion1984 I've been playing Tales of Arise, Hogwarts Legacy, and Chained Echoes. The last of them has a great journal system that allows you to step away for a few days, weeks or even months, and then jump right back in without feeling lost or having forgotten the whole premise.

I can remember buying Rise of the Robots, excitedly smacking the cartridge into the console... and then having all joy sucked out of my body like a Shang Tsung victim. Not only that, when my friends and I went to play against each other, Player 1 HAD TO BE THE MAIN ROBOT, while Player 2 got to select from any of the enemy robots. On top of that, because the single-player campaign designated that each enemy robot got harder sequentially, it meant the characters were intentionally imbalanced too.

I was so excited to play this game when I saw it on the shelf selling for the PC. Then was elated when it was available for the SNES. Like everyone else found it so disappointing after (fortunately) renting it. I think my brothers and I played for about an hour before taking it back.

Back when I were a lad, I got a Sega Mega Drive for christmas. I also got a game to go with it: Last Battle. I knew it was trash even before I put the cartridge in the machine, however, I wasn't a totally ungrateful little plum and I did play it. In fact, I went back to it a year later and completed it, which wasn't an easy game as it was 1 life, no continues and it was pretty tough for early teens me.

Rating Forspoken and Redfall worse than Gollum is a wild take. Forspoken is like, 7.5 at worst and Redfall is maybe 6.5-7. They're okay to good, not great, in a year loaded with 9s and 10s. But they're not bad or even boring to play.

@@XDarkNation Except I disagree. I think Forspoken is a good game and Redfall is a pretty okay game. You act as if your opinion is objective fact. Well, I suppose maybe Redfall would be 6-7, because it has good parts and mediocre parts that averages out to some kind of uneven 6.5. Forspoken I stand by. It's a good game if your machine can run it. People whine too much about the dialogue when it's perfectly fine, the actual story is quite nice, and the gameplay is great with amazing combat and movement that feels incredible.

I got a list: 10 times Jules was an absolute uplifting ledge in his outtro. I need this! (I have been a fan for quite a few years now and have had some MAJOR life changing events happen that threw me directly to the depths of deadly depression.. and jules lifted my spirits and saved my life. I got mad love and respect for ya jules (you absolute hero of my tale (literally mate.. if you read this: you literally saved my life. I spent what was to be my last day sitting there with my extinction in my hand. Crying and nauseous while experiencing my last moments alive alone.. i was absent-mindedly youtubing when jules reached thru the swirling dark clouds of oblivion had surrounded my mind's eye's view and "spoke to me" thru one of his outtros. And it paused the storm.. if only for a moment.. and i started seeking these lil messages out.. started seeking the help i desperately needed.. Fast forward a cpl years later and im so much better mentally and emotionally, healthier, bad drug free, and really thankful for a guy named jules.) So.. please? 10 times jules was an absolute ledge. That's my suggestion.

Redfall's intro REALLY felt like Brink's overall delivery as well. Yeah, remember the game Brink? The Team Fortress 2 game that had worse AI problems than almost any FPS game has ever had? I was considerably hyped for that game, but the moment I realized that any "story" elements that game might have contained were jammed in between levels with bare-bones animatics, paired with narration from voice actors who sounded just as confused about the setting as I was... I quickly realized that it was an abandoned-at-launch product.

Rise of the Robots ironically makes me think of One Must Fall 2097. They were released like five months apart, and the graphics are pretty damn similar to my eye. What's ironic about that is that RotR was made by a team of devs, and the original One Must Fall was made by a dude in his off-time, who started the project just because his son wanted Street Fighter with robots.

The funny thing about what's being said about Rise of Robots, that all you need to do is low kick, is, it has been proven scientifically accurate. Just watch any episode of Battle Bots, with buzz saws, hammers, grinders, what-have-you, and if you see a robot in the shape of a little, squat rectangle, with a door-wedge on either side of it... basically just a squat trapezoid, you know right from the start that thing has a nine-out-of-ten chance of winning because it goes in low.

Few I'd like to add: -Anthem - it was wildly obvious that Bioware didn't really know what they were doing with this pre-release, and having "live service" was already becoming a curse on any title. There was no faith that this would be worthwhile game -Fallout 76 - Bethesda has been known for having awful quality control for over a decade prior to F76 release, and relied on community to keep their games alive through mods and unofficial patches. But then they drop a game for which modding is not an option due to it online-only constraint. So typical bethesda quality + no community to pick up the slack = obvious failure from the start. This turned out to be an understatement of how bad the state F76 would release in. -Gotham Knights - same live service problem as Anthem, but now also having to fill enormous shoes Arkham franchise left behind. GK never stood a chance -No Man's Sky - kudos to the devs for bringing it back from the dead, but for a studio with no prior experience in making games of this scale, they promised an awful lot more than they could realistically achieve by initial release. It's weird to me how so many people got fooled by the marketing, but I guess I should thank those idiots for giving Hello Games money to continue developing NMS into excellent game it is today

The best part of MK Mythologies Sub-Zero was the bloopers reel you got from finishing the game. By the way there was a second Mortal Kombat action-adventure game starring Jax called Special Forces that released in 2000. I never played it but I imagine it was just as good. I'm actually kinda surprised that the Saint's Row reboot was not on this list. The opening mission was not bad but thus far I have yet to go back to the game as the hipster/Gen Z vibe was just too overwhelming.

I don't think Redfall's intro is that bad, it's a stylistic choice sure but it didn't bother me. When I saw it was a "4 player co-op that can be played as a single player". The alarms went off (turned out it was neither) I actually played Rise of The Robots on the SNES and yeah it was naff. Thankfully this was when you could rent games from a video rental store... Ok you had to rent Dvds because the Internet wasn't good enough to stream things. A DVD is a type of digital storage device that could be used to watch movies and such on a dvd player that followed the VHS Oh right, a VHS a form of magnetic storage for video information that can be shown on a television.
