Nice! I would love chickens, but we go to our cottage often in the summer, soooo…that’s kind of hard. You have some lucky birds. The Taj-ma-chicken.

A cottage sounds great!!! With the automatic door and the cameras, we still go away with our travel trailer. We love having the chickens, and highly recommend it when you're able to. But yeah, our chickens are super spoiled. 😆🤗 Thank you so much Kay!!! ❤️

Have you considered industrial hemp bedding for a deep litter method in your coop? Check out Carolina coops online videos for the deep litter method. I ordered 2 bails of 44lbs each for my 6x6 henhouse, to give them a good 6 inches. The goal is to deep litter and not clean out for approx 12 months. Far more absorbent than pine. 4x more. And composts down nicely. Amazon may Seem cheaper, but Carolina coops only sells the imported French hemp. Which is insanely light and fluffy. And of good quality. And becomes equivocal in price to “whatever” you’re getting on Amazon. Which may be low quality or outer husks of the hemp plant. And maybe harvested from China vs France. -Theresa

Thank you Theresa!!! I had heard of the deep litter method and we kind of did that accidentally when I dumped the entire bag of pine shavings in the coop. It's been a couple months and it still smells super clean in there, so I would imagine that method does work well. I have never heard of the hemp bedding though!!! I will definitely look into that. This was super informative, thank you!!!!! 💛💚
