Larson also Carrie’s all their chemicals on the trailer too for planting. So it does double duty. Only one trip instead of two.

Here in central Nebraska there are a lot of farmers who put their tenders on their flat decks with their liquid starter fertilizer

I want to get a removable flat bed that connects to your semi 5th wheel and also sits on your frame. And put a 3000 gallon tank on that for our starter fertilizer with a pump. Then them flatbeds also have a receiver hitch on them. So I want to pull a bumper hitch seed tender. Have everything in one but still be very nimble. Then after planting disconnect the flatbed off the semi and you got your semi back.

Great video Love the energy and enthusiasm each one of you show. Larson mostly has good places to load so maybe it will work ok. Time will tell us all.

We have a send tender that holds nine pro boxes on a 45ft tri axle float along with 6000gallons of 6-24-6 liqued starter (in furrow). Makes getting both fert and seed to the field quick and easy. One trip.

The difference with the Larson rig is they are putting down 2 or 3 products at once & having to Transport seed & liquid & chemicals at one time to be efficient. Most large planters in my area use 40-45 ft drop decks for planter tenders due to needing to supply more then 1 product at the time & just use 1 extra driver. Around me they have 1.Seed, 2.Liquid Popup 3, Dry fertilizer, 4.other chemicals, with one trip & 1 extra driver, filling everything anytime they have to stop.

It depends, they do it because they have pop up or starter they put down with the planter where as you guys don’t. To me it seems efficient because it’s all in one rig and you fill with fertilizer when you fill with seed.

We’re in south central Kansas and we have our seed tender on our step deck trailer but we also carry almost 3500 gallons of 10-34 and 28 fertilizer mix on it too

You farmers are an independent group of individuals So the Larson Farms seed tender seems par for the course of building a better mouse trap, I guess the plan is to bring 32/28/starter blends and seed on the same truck, easier logistics and less manpower. They load mostly at the roadside. Chets' chem mixing trailer has me more baffled. Sooo many hand valves, solenoids, meters and pumps. No mention yet of any automation like auto metering. I fear he may resemble the Wizard of Oz behind the curtain, feverishly pulling every handle lever, button and his hair. A better mouse trap? We will see? Anywho, good to see you back to planting! Rather successfully!!!

Just curious. If yall didn't do seed corn would you consider a 36 row planter? Been some talk about updating. Just curious your thoughts. Thanks.
@mannfamilyfarms381
@mannfamilyfarms381 Жыл бұрын
Doubtful. Seems like it’d be pretty awkward just getting around. Not to mention more rows to work on and getting into any corners or pie shapes would suck. You’d also have to do 72 end rows 😳 you could do 36 end rows and back around but that kinda sucks. Was just talking about this with mustard today actually. If you’re thinking 36, might as well go with a 48 if your roads and fields allow it. If not stay with 24 and go high speed if you need more capacity. Just my 2 cents
@paulreynolds4545
@paulreynolds4545 Жыл бұрын
@mannfamilyfarms381 thank you for your thoughts. I get what your saying about the maintenance. Price on 36 rows makes you start to think hard. $90k for 36 rows. Don't think our entrances could handle a 36/48 row (but can always widen them. Lol) as we got to looking and measuring over the weekend. :/

dope setup, how much does that 9430 weigh? are you not worried about compaction in front of the planter? looks sick anyway
@mannfamilyfarms381
@mannfamilyfarms381 Жыл бұрын
36,000 lbs. we deflated the tires to 10psi. It should actually compact less than a FWA. This is a test run year so we’ll see how emergence and yield looks

I have no experience with row planters at all. Do the row planters have section control or row control so you can shut down sections or individual rows at headlands or grass waterways that are at 45 degrees? Or do you just seed right through the waterways?
@mannfamilyfarms381
@mannfamilyfarms381 Жыл бұрын
Yep 2 of ours shut off in rows of 2 and one has individual row shut off. They shut off through waterways and headlands
