You don’t get the promo Sol Ring, and you get two randomized $20 commander decks instead of two specific $40 commander decks. That last point is super important. I’ve playtested for WOTC a few times, and all of the developers and artists are so nice. It’s clear they actually care about what they’re making, but don’t get a chance to play test for shit now because products get released literally constantly.

I stopped at commander 2019 (except a box of Ikoria commanders). While pre-2020 commander decks consistently increased in value over 3-5yrs, I can't say the same 100% for 2020 and later. I'm still of the opinion OG commander (w/ Kaalia/Atraxa etc) and 2017 (which played great against each other) were the peaks of precons.

We can look at the decks playability, curve, and value and to this day they still holdup as the best sets (CMD1, 2 and 2017). 2018 fell far behind in the areas that they didnt try to innovate, the Commandwalkers were cool but the decks themselves werent spectacular right out of the box.... compared to todays EDH environment, the 2018 and 2019s were disappointing overall but had some very good new cards in my opinion.

But there were two types of convention boxes. First print the special card had a planeswalker symbol and was worth money. The prints after that they didn't. Shiv Mizzet $100/$19 difference

There was a RETAIL version and the CONVENTION edition. The retail version had the Planeswalker symbol foil cards in the last slot and the convention edition had the Playtest cards in them.
