Wow; as a fan of classic Motown music, I would have loved this special, which I don't believe I have ever seen. 0:46--McDonald's had a lot of great commercials in the 80's. Yes, this one looks like it was made specifically to air during this program, like many of the commercials that air during the Super Bowl. 1:17--Ah, the soda (or "pop", here in the Midwest) wars of the 80's. 2:17--Back when Listerine came in glass bottles and tasted "mediciney". I remember when 2:47 this style of TV sets and 8:41 TI-99 computers were state-of-the-art equipment, and now they are so dated. 3:44--Is Cub Foods still around? We used to have them here in Iowa, but I haven't seen one in a long time. 4:48--"There's more for your life at Sears" is an iconic advertising slogan/jingle. Kind of sad the way Sears has declined. 5:20--Kellogg's also had some great jingles in the 80's, including this spot for Corn Flakes. 6:20--Shortly after the Bell System split from AT&T, which refocused itself as a long-distance provider. 7:10--I remember that unrest in Grenada, and being intrigued that it was pronounced "Gre-NAY-duh" rather than "Gre-NAH-duh". 7:36--Although I was still 9 years too young to legally drink beer in 1983, I seem to remember a lot of beer commercials of the time.

Thank you so much for these commercials! These aired during Motown 25. My mom taped this but didnt tape during commercial breaks. I am a big fan of retro tv footage like this.

My family watched the tape of the Motown 25 special until it literally fell apart! Come to think of it..it is the our tape of the Motown 25 special that made me fall in love with 80's commercials

The Texas Instruments commercial sounds like the guy who's doing the current Monday Night Football & Burger King spots.

I can remember seeing the Corn Flakes commercial, and having no idea who those last guys were who's kid picks showed up on the box. No network in my area was airing eps of the Beav yet.

I could never taste a difference between Sprite & 7Up, but I did learn on a dare that it's surprisingly good mixed with chocolate chip mint icecream.

this is absolutely amazing, i have watched quite a few of these volumes and these commercials compared to the commercials today have emotion and substance to them. Nowadays commercials are pointless and vulgar

So the lady loves oven cleaning now because of easy off which is funny, but would have been better off if she got that self cleaning oven.

Yes it does, you just have to use some caution and keep the area well ventilated. My great aunt would always spray, leave it for ah while, then come back to it. I didn't blame her one bit.

1:48 - If, in the movie Airplane II - The Sequel (which played earlier that year), they played this commercial on the airplane, this is what you would see and hear: $500 for a self-cleaning oven? I can't afford it! But I hate oven cleaning! (A can of Easy-Off suddenly appears in the woman's hand.) Get Easy-Off spray, our closest yet to a self-cleaning oven! BULLSHIT! BULLSHIT! BULLSHIT! Because Easy-Off does most of the hard work for you, fast and easy. UNBELIEVABLE BULLSHIT!
