I forgot about dicaprio being in critters 3, somehow I don't think he'd be interested in a remake if he was approached now though !!! lol...... The big ball monster is from a movie called 'The Brain' - from around 1988 - but your right, I reckon they may have taken inspiration from the critters monsters as they do look pretty similar !!!!
