800Hp Subaru Impreza WRC || Alister McRae´s All Time Record - Leadfoot Festival

The younger sibling of the Legendary McRae lineage, Alister, has beaten the All Time Record of Leadfoot Festival´s Hillclimb at the wheel of the ex-Possum Bourne Subaru Impreza WRC 1998. Run by Vantage Windows Motorsport and and producing over 800Hp it is a "bona fide" Hillclimb Monster.
It is an ex-Prodrive Subaru 1998 WRC car, which was driven and crashed at Rally New Zealand by Finnish driver Juha Kangas in 1998. The damaged shell was then purchased by the late Possum Bourne. In 2001, after rebuilding the car, Possum drove it to victory at Race to the Sky in 8min 34sec. In 2003, Vantage Motorsport purchased the car after Possum’s death. From 2004-2007, Swedish WRC star Kenneth Eriksson drove the car at RTTS, finishing runner-up on two occasions. In 2011 and 2012, Vantage-supported driver Emma Gilmour to drive at the Leadfoot Festival. After that it was time for Alister McRae to assume driving duties and simply taking the Leadfoot Festival Hillclimb event by storm winning in 2017, 2018 and now on 2019, being the first driver to go below the 48 second mark, posting a 47.99.

i think alister is one of most underrated drivers. he had colin's speed, and also he didnt overpush his driving. he was only lacking a team that gave him the tools

That’s a dog box or sequential setup for sure. He was only letting off throttle during shifts plus you can hear the gears slamming

You still have to use the clutch with a sequential setup at low rpms either way that tranny is not a standard h pattern in my opinion but love this car it rips and this man a is legend!

What a legend, from a family of legends. My best memory of them driving together was Castle Combe rallyday around 2005/6 Alister and Colin put on a display in mk2 escorts, pure talent. Not forgetting jimmy, he can still pedal like he’s 30 years old!! Throwing a v8 Firenza around Kielder can’t be easy!! What a family!

@@zyoungson215 sadly I don't watch it much anymore I prefer watching and following other random rallies and hill climb videos where it's still about cars and not the same WRC car with just different brand like nowadays WRC most look the same and sound similar nothing unique to watch. Same here rally suck, I used to be a road commissioner but I gave up a few years ago since is this newer shitty rally cars and they silenced the Evo here and almost all cars. Even the Porsche GT3 1st year they shown up on my local rally I could hear it kilometers away from me and since I was at like 30 cm from where the car pass by fast even my ears exploded with so much powerful most pleasure sound, the year after they silenced them no more getting horny 4 me and they called me to go to commissioner and I was like screw that same boring cars and the good ones silenced no Thank You :( I even spent days drawing that Porsche paintjob in Forza 4 very accurate to play in game :) Best times here was when group B was alive my father told me ppl would all go crazy out of home for a few days and sleep outside just to see them, nowadays is less and less ppl each year and after like the 20 best cars most start to go home or to bars drink :). I wish I could ever see the Audi Quattro group B car before I die... I'm from Jan 1990 so sadly I missed group B my father always tell me how crazy rally was back then Vs the boring shit today... 90s rally here at least was very cool loved the old Lancia Delta, the old Subarus, evos... Ps: I prefer seeing crazy monster cars and crazy Hill climb videos here on KZbin from this KZbin channel than even go watch the modern rally here in real life, I'm too bored with it already, I will only see it this year if they bring a new old crazy car or some drifting or other shit not the modern rally cars screw them.

It baffles me that the likes of this guy isn't competing in the wrc to this day. It's a unfortunate his factory drives with hyundai and Mitsubishi evo 7 were in uncompetitive cars. I was really backing him and francois delecour in that 2002 season in the evo 7.
