My eyes kept wandering over to the pack on the far right because it looked so hot and when you mentioned it, I was like, "Hey! I own that pack!" 😂 I had a different experience with the Aether when I tried it on. The Gregory Baltoro fit me far better for my body type (stocky). But the Mystery Ranches (plural because I own 5 now) blew all the others away. The Bridger is otherworldly as far as fit and comfort go while in the field. I have a Glacier 70 for my expedition rig. So, it's been half a year...do you have any trail time on them?

Great info! Love to hear everyone's experiences with various packs. Yes I have, I did a 3 day trip carrying about 40lbs. I was amazed at how well it carried that much weight. My body gave out before any discomfort ever occurred. I've been slowly trying to lighten my load, but the bulky items such as a winter sleeping bag still take up quite a bit of volume, so I'm glad I've got it. The weight is pretty high though for the base pack itself, but if you can live with that it's great!

Osprey is the most photogenic backpack of all time. Every video and every photo it looks fresh and perfect.

Hey hello. I just wanted to comment on ur video. I think u deciding on the osprey is a good choice. I own about 29 packs or so. I have many high end packs including Kifaru which I spent about 2,000$ with all of the pack, frame (sold separately) and accessories. I say this cuz I'm serious about packs and the outdoors. I own military tactical packs, tactical hunting packs, civilian packs etc etc. I own osprey too and mystery ranch. Osprey if kept to it's weight limitations and under will be a much more comfortable pack. Mystery ranch makes some good stuff too but over the past 10 yrs many of their packs and frames and harnesses have fallen behind the times and fallen with lesser quality. Mystery ranch has been around for a very long time making hunting, military and civilian packs but lately they have commercialized and dropped in quality and not so good frames. They still make a few good packs like the Bridger etc but compared to other packs they r not competing. Many hunting brands like kifaru, exo mt gear, stone glacier, eberlestock etc etc are making the best of the best or smaller USA made companies like hill people gear. These companies I've listed are also USA made and no other packs compare. U shuda check out each of these brands I've listed. The quality, modularity, quality control, durability, Weight etc r unbeatable. If u have a pack more comfortable then the other pick the more comfortable hands down. Because u can always work around the other aspects but comfort is never to be ignored. If the osprey is more comfortable then go with it. Good choice. If u wear it and carry it then ur body will thank u and u'll feel better giving you a more enjoyable time. I own sooooo many packs and all the brands I listed I know what is out there and have compared so many brands. I use modularity bags for my backpacking and I build load outs and the gear to carry them. Comfort matters and many folk r saying mystery ranch isn't as comfortable as they used to be. Good video thank you.

Got a MR Metcalf 100L and its a lot of pack. Will be picking up either the MR Bridger 55 or 65- any recommendations? Awesome review!!!!
@Chris-eh3du2 ай бұрын
@@chasemorgan9543 I don't think you can go wrong with any Bridger! I think it just depends on your gear volume. If you have a plastic container they usually say how many liters they are. You can then fill up the bin several times with your gear to get an accurate volume amount. Just be sure to get the right size from MR, I got a L/XL not realizing, and I find that while it still fits, with the torso adjustment all the way down, the hip belt still rides a bit too low and if I take a large step upward sometimes the belt can limit that motion. Hope it helps and enjoy!

@@Chris-eh3duAwesome- Thank You!!! I am 6’3” 215lbs, I got a M/S in the 100L and it fits alright with everything adjusted. Still considering getting a bigger size but they actually recommend sizing down if you’re between sizes.

Great video!! 😎 I have the same experience regarding the egde of the straps digging in to the neck/shoulders. My backpack is also just living room worn, and im currious if the foam of the MR will form/soften over time.

I appreciate the information! A question about the Bridger, how would you compare that to carry of the Bridger to the osprey if they were similar size/ weight? Been looking at switching from the kestrel 38 to a larger pack for multi day trips where I need more food/ luxury items (i'm not worried about the weight) and only a couple videos about them and I want a new pack for this upcoming season! Thanks!

Thanks for watching! I would say between the Osprey 85L and the Bridger 65 (the main osprey pack pack in this video) they are pretty darn close, but the Bridger wins due to that distributed weight on the front of the chest with the unique runner vest style harness. The Osprey is very close though id say 80-85% as comfortable, really just the difference between that distributed wide chest harness and the Osprey normal slim harness, you feel a bit more pressure. I think ultimately it is up to capacity that you are looking for. Mystery Ranch recently released the Bridger in I think a 35l and 45L too. Hope it helps! :)
@josephskoglund7997 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I’m looking at the 65L in both packs, sounds like I need to get to a store and try out the MR bag with some weight, the running vest style seems very unique. Thanks for the reply!

I’m considering either an Aether Plus 100 or a MR T100, possibly even a Gregory Baltoro 100 Plus. I need the volume, because I carry 80ish pounds. I have a 1996 Dana Design Terraplane X, and I never really cared for it. I am always tweaking the adjustments, never getting it exactly where I’m happy. It’s always sagging down on me. I’m sure that Dana has transformed his gear over the years, but I’m very hesitant to go down the same path again.

Appreciate your thoughts, maybe I missed it but was curious why no mention of terra frames carbon stays and expansion capabilities?
@Chris-eh3du Жыл бұрын
Thanks! So the terraframe packs and terraplane packs are different in that the terraplane doesn't actually have the external frame system that is extendable. However the terraframe packs do. It's a little confusing the naming schema, but the terraplane 80L is the blue pack in the video

For the main Osprey draw cord cinch, to close it, you just pull on the cord in an upwards direction. No need to hold the little toggle thing. With weight in the bag it closes itself. To open it, instead you just pull the fabric part of the toggle outwards away from the pack. Can open and close it one handed. When I first got an Osprey pack, I initially tried using two hands and it didn't work for me either. When I accidentally figured out how to use it, it became awesome.

Good review…the zipper opening on the mystery ranch is a straight pull I believe on the sleeping bag compartment which I think is a stronger set up. Both these packs have full panel openings? New Brunswick Canada 🇨🇦
@Chris-eh3du Жыл бұрын
That is correct, I believe the MR excels in the sleeping bag compartment, if you intend to use it as such. Personally I just load things in from the top. Both bags do open up to the internal compartment, the MR probably opens a tiny bit more than the Osprey but both are very functional there
