@@choppedinc. I don't recall hearing that. I know you said you got the frame cleaned up where you were going to cut it and then you went to cutting. If the specs are available online, can you point me in the right direction of wear to look. Thanks and keep up the good work. Really like your videos.

I can tell the year of that square body is a 1984 because it has 1983-1984 headlamp bezels & grille & 1984 was when both the windshield wiper & high & low beam light switches were moved to the steering column.

Now days it gets hard with everyone having a favorite front end they like to swap them out. 70s fronts on 80s cabs and so on
@kevinrichards32883 жыл бұрын
@@choppedinc. Also what I very seldom see on the roads here in the USA nowadays are cabover semis. I remember back in the 1980s there was a mix of cabover & conventional cab semis in use. Today mostly conventional cab semis are in use. I like the cabovers better because they're easier to turn & park in with their shorter wheel bases & not having that nose in front of the cab getting in the way of anything. Cabovers look cooler too & I miss seeing them on the roadways. I like that black Freightliner cabover tow truck in the movie Terminator 2 & hated to see it get totaled in that movie. In Terminator 1 there was an International Transtar cabover fifth wheel with a tanker trailer hooked up to it.

Did you trust flux weld to weld a frame I got told by many welders that I have to use rod welder for that job bcos I'm planning to cut mine since year ago??????

I use a gas mig welder. Have done all that way with zero problems. I tow with the ones I have done. I always plate them aswell.

when shortening the frame do i have to do any modification to the driveshaft or anything along those lines?
@choppedinc.2 жыл бұрын
Yes will need to get it shortened or find a factory short bed drive shaft. To getting it shortened it can cost as low as $150 up to $500 depending on the drive shaft shop.
@Fireheadfred Жыл бұрын
You have the whole chassis change the whole thing or cut out of the long bed frame to shorten it instead of ruining a factory shortbed lol just my opinion
@choppedinc. Жыл бұрын
If I was sure it was a good frame I would have, but being it was burt I was concerned about the integrity of the metal and I would have had to rebuild the whole front because all the rubbers were done. That's mostly me reason

Why not just do a frame swap...
@choppedinc.3 жыл бұрын
Not many around and normally they have been sitting and will need to be rebuilt and everything else will need to be swapped, whole front end and new brake lines and gas lines. I knew all my stuff worked and I didn't have to spend any money on buying a new frame. I plate everything so it's just as strong or stronger than factory. I have towed with other trucks I have short beded. Not against using a frame, it's just time and cost and personal preference.
