I miss the hard rock vibe of the 80s. Being young and free. Growing my hair long and dressing like the bands of the time. Reading hit parader and circus magazine and plastering the pages of those magazines all over my bedroom wall. My first guitar, feeling like a boss. Trading cassette tapes with my friends. Riding my GT performer everywhere with my friends,,, miles and miles a day. Playing Atari and tinkering with commadore 64. Making sweet tea and canned biscuit doughnuts late at night while dubbing movies on vhs on the weekends with my friends. Those were the best times of my life. And was for most GenX'ers. I miss it 😢

Freekin AWESOME!! I’m 51 and we all used to do things like that back in the day. Good times I must say. In today’s times, kids have no clue about our music we loved and still love. You guys hang in there, and stay healthy and safe.🤘🤘🤘🤘

An almost 51er here too! And it’s so true, we all did the same things. Even here 6000 miles across the ocean we would lip sync and air guitar, or cover our favorite bands in our rooms. Usual on the hottest days of the year. Because otherwise we’d be out on our BMXes, being up to no good 😂Ding Dong ditching, or stealing empty bottles and cashing them in to play video games in an arcade. Steal cigarettes and booze from our parents. Put our money together to get some weed (which is okay here in the Netherlands) and get wasted on some building side. Often some girls would join and we’d make out. Whilst Blasting metal from our boom box. And occasionally running from the cops 😂 not getting caught. Only to come home and hear they’d been there because you are the kid in the red baseball hat with the denim jacket and Iron Maiden patch on the back 😂 Having to report at the station within 24 hours. For breaking and entering a prohibited area. And underage drinking and smoking. Only to ask for a cigarette to calm my nerves and the cops laughing and them throwing their arm around you and laugh because they knew we didn’t break things or were bad kids. It was for them also a game when they got complains about our noise and “drunken hooligans”. 😂 What a great time those late 80s were! 1987 so wanna be back!

That guitar he's playing is a ( 1950's Silvertone U1 copper metallic guitar) made by Danelectro. I wonder if he still has it?

Yeah, Looks like an early 60s; when the output jack got moved to the top, in line with the knobs and switch. The 50s models had the jack on the side/ bottom. Looks like the knobs are missing off of Larry’s.. Worth about a grand

I thought me.and my friends were the only ones that did this in the 80s now I don't feel so awful. Actually I miss those days more than I could ever explain and I miss my friends and just being a kid, and still having a lot of first times left to do things. I feel like an old man thays basically done all there is to do. I guess that's what memories are for. Thanks for taking me back.

I actually did this when I was a kid too. I did it in the backyard with a good ol boombox. Used some logs for the drums and wooden fence pieces as the guitars(LOL) and jammed nothing but Metallica and Maiden IIRC. I think Gen X and older Millennials were the last generations to actually do stuff like this before technology started taking over and sucked all the creative imagination out of kids. 😒
