When I was growing up in the 70’s the Goodyear blimp would fly right over my house on Sunday home Oakland Raiders games . Also I remember my parents taking me to the airport to watch the blimp land 👍🏻

How great of Eric to invite you guys! When I was a kid back in the late 60's or early 70's I remember my dad taking us out visit the blimp. It was the older rounder silver/grey color. We didn't go for a ride but we got to sit in the doorway. Love both channels and look fwd to watching this again on the GIV!

Kurt, I am also very afraid of heights, but I have no problem flying in airplanes and helicopters. People are not actually afraid of heights, they are afraid of falling. You feel safe and secure inside an airplane. It's feels no different that if you're looking out of a tall building. Give it a try sometime, just a short flight at first, and see what you're missing.

In the early 1980s, I lived in San Pedro (near Carson) and I would see the Goodyear Blimp all the time. Something I often witnessed during high winds made me think about an age old question about whales. The blimp is shaped like a whale, and what I would often see during high winds was that the blimp would 'stand' on it's head. People question why whales sleep 'standing' on their heads. Maybe it has to do with aerodynamics, in that, due to water and currents acting like the winds on the blimp. Allows the whales to remain in place, and not be moved by currents. ???

You know, a blimp ride might be a good transition into your first Venture in the air. It is really smooth and luxurious almost and you don't get the sense of jarring and speed and tear like you doing an airplane or even worse than a helicopter. You might want to think about it....

I was expecting you to mention that it's really not a blimp anymore like we remember as kids. They were replaced about 10 years ago with semi-rigid airships made by the Zeppelin company in Germany (makers of The Hindenburg!).
