Russ I've only known of ya for a few years now, but I gotta say your sure a fine picker for as young as ya are. Solid, drivin banjo. With machine like timing & tempo.... hat's off to ya and thanks for the excellent content you bring 👍

I don't know this band but thought the guitarist looked familiar then I heard him play and I was like he's gotta be someone I know. Someone that sounds like that doesn't slip through the cracks. duh, it's Jake Workman. Jeez, what a player.

Paul Capps. I totally agree with your response cheep vs pricey guitars Our blind bluegrass banjo player (also adept on every instrument with strings) no Yamaha of the 3 I've owned sounds as good as his 1968 D35 Martin. I don't think Yamaha intends to outdo Martin. Each guitar occupies the niche it is supposed to. A Buel isn't intended To be a HD Sportster. Always wanted a Sportster.

These are great quality recordings. Are you using just a video camera microphone? I tend to find studio recordings of bluegrass too sanitized.

Jeff Goins. Hate to correct you but in the interest of accuracy, Jeff is playing not a Collins but a COLLINGS guitar. Made in my home state of Texas. George Collings make them in Austin Texas. A guy in our Bg club owns a Collings. But he doesn't bear down on it to its full potential. Maybe he can't?

Is Jake mic’d on this one? Also what guitar is he playing?
@81crowe5 жыл бұрын
Chris Brown nope, it’s the same two Zoom H2N recorders I used on the rest of the night. We moved around a few times, but this was definitely a good spot for him. Also that’s a new Rosewood Collings they just built for him. It’s a great sounding box and is only getting better!
@chrisbrown38495 жыл бұрын
81crowe Oh ok I was asking because on the “Kicking Grass” video he was so much quieter (which I’m sure you’ve been made aware of haha). I have a Charlie Williams Custom TR that I got from Jake Stogdill (former Janet Davis Music Co in Arkansas) who is now with Banjo Ben, and I love it, but I might have to give Collings a look! Thanks for the reply! Can’t believe I’m actually talking to the banjo player for one of my all-time favorite bands! Love what y’all are doing, man! Keep it up! I’m a police officer here in central AR and I wish there were more places to jam but just not really the scene here. Envy y’all sometimes haha
@danielmiller3725 жыл бұрын
Where are ya in AR? I’m in the Jonesboro area. Not a lot of jamming up here either.

What are the names of the guys in this video (minus Jake Russ and Jesse)? Mando player used to be with Russ in Audie Blaylocks ban. Who is singing lead and who is playing upright bass nuther words?

Auto correct. it's Collings not Fillings or Collins guitar. Presumptive texting six.
