Great video. Thank You. As a side note, I had trouble with my drivers widow even after adjusting. Turns out, the felt on the 2 window guides was completely worn away. I glued on new strips of felt, works great. Thanks again.

thanks for this vid, mine is really loose on the drivers side and then the door itself doesn't want to close all the way....it sags some....guess I need to take out the old pins and bushings then it won't sag anymore? 1992 firebird I got in a trade earlier...I think it's a trans am since it has those factory honeycomb GTA wheels
@vickikgibson94707 жыл бұрын
You can tell a Trans from a Camaro from the front and back area. The Trans has flip up lights and a flat tail end with no wrap around lights. All the rest of the two cars interchange parts, including the wheels! The interior was also different in the two cars, but mainly in the dash and centre console. Again, seats, carpet etc can all switch, mix and match! They are the same! That is the best part about these cars, lots of ways to make them new, and your style in the mix as well. There were many wheel styles for this era. Mine is the one with the clips that go into the triangle wheel slots, so they could be taken out and painted to match the car. They were also smaller, size 14", where others are 15" rims, which I think you have on your car. Hope that helps!:) And yes, if you put in new door pins, have it done at a shop so they can also raise the door so it sits properly once the pins and bushings are in the hinges. Make sure to do both top AND bottom ! Check to make sure there is no crack on the top door hinge section, as that can be a common problem due to the weight of the long door. Have those adjusted every year if you live in a windy region like I do! Anyway, good luck with your project buddy! Cheers!
@paulthesoundguy12 жыл бұрын
Hello, you should probably mention that all these adjustments are useless if the door hinge bushings are well worn.

So can you do a Demonstration on how to set window forward or back, or tips on how to get that right? I can't seem to get the triangle to sit so the window stays IN the track once it is set on the right angle...or hope it is anyway...! What degree should this window set at? Anyway, love the video, just need a tad more information:) So you adjust the door stops too when window is up, right? Mine does seem to be even thank goodness! :) K, just trying to get some of this, as it has taken 4 hours getting no where . Do you know where to get window plastic inserts for the glass at all? I can't find any here darn it!....THANKS SO MUCH!!! OR JUST EMAIL ME on tips......:)
@transamman3057 жыл бұрын
Vicki, you may need to adjust the rear track forward more if it's falling out of the front track. Thats done by loosening the two bolts at the top of the rear track and sliding it forward slightly. I'm not 100% sure what you mean when you say you can't get the window to stay in the track. Does it fall out of the entire front track or just the triangle piece? If you have the angle set right and it's JUST falling out of the triangle piece, you may need to adjust the upper gold brackets with the felt on them. Those will help keep the window lined up with the triangle as it's going up. If the window is coming out of the outside of the triangle, adjust those brackets inwards more toward the interior. If it's coming out on the interior side of the triangle, adjust the brackets outwards more.

@@transamman305 Thanks so much for the help...I have been restoring the car and doing the door glass once again. I will set the triangle where it is supposed to be this time around, then have the window fit into place where it should be with the triangle and the weather stripping. But your help is invaluable, and makes me much less afraid of doing it myself, as NO ONE is showing this properly anywhere online! Go figure eh?? Cheers buddy!
@vickikgibson94702 жыл бұрын
So I followed your instructions, and both sides fit much better when I aligned the glass and left the triangles last. I may have to tweek a bit more, but right now, they are MUCH better than they were before. Thanks for the tips! By track I meant where the triangle holds the glass into place...that can get out of alignment, and the glass then tries to not fit into the rubber parts on the triangle, on track or the weather strip piece. Anyway, it is much better when I just did it last with the glass! Cheers buddy and thank you!!! Oh, and I wish I could find new roller pieces for the part that rolls the windows up and down (scissor mechanism) /Those wear out and can't find replacements for them, darn it!

@douglaswyczalek4015 жыл бұрын
Okay i replaced my window sweep on my 1984 Firebird with manual window regulator i tried doing it without interfering with any window adjustments BUT now i got it back together and the only problem I'm having with the door glass rattles (sounds like its down low) when shutting the door with window up or down doesn't make any difference. Not sure what adjustment would take care of that don't want to adjust the wrong adjustment . Do you know what adjustment would fix the rattle?

Where did you get the weather seal that covers the top of the glass on the T top
@transamman3058 жыл бұрын
They're actually the original ones that came on the car. But if you need replacements, you can find them on ebay or at 1Aauto.com. They're called "drip rails." They have a rubber or plastic version and you can choose which you want. Mine are the factory plastic ones.

Fuck yeah!! Rock on Brother. Can you do a video on the doors? My window on my 88 GTA isn't covering the weather strip like it should and when I take it to a laser car wash I get a shower along with the car lol. Any idea if the window ajdustment would help my case? Or just work on adjusting my doors?
@transamman3057 жыл бұрын
If your doors seem to line up with the rest of the body, I don't think they need adjustment. The only thing that really causes the doors to come out of alignment or sag is the hinge pin, so if your doors sag when you open them I'd try replacing that. Other than that, all the sealing will be in the window adjustments.

How much wobble does your window have when its half way down? Is there a particular adjustment for that?
@transamman3056 жыл бұрын
I do have a slight amount of wobble when it's half way down. Honestly not sure how to get rid of that, but my windows are rarely only half way down so I live with it. It doesn't make any noise or chatter going over bumps, but if I grab it and wiggle it, you can feel it.

hi What is the best transmission to use with a 350 small block in a 1984 trans am not to race just for daily driving
@transamman3056 жыл бұрын
For daily driving, I'd say you'd be ok with a T5 if you want a manual. If automatic, I'd go with a 700R4 because having an overdrive gear is nice vs a turbo 350 or 400 trans.

@transamman3058 жыл бұрын
Yeah, these cars do have slow windows because of how heavy they are. If it's overly slow, your window motor could be going too though. Mine are slow but not that bad at all compared to some other third gens I've seen lol.
@geoffhughes19866 жыл бұрын
Mine was slow when the felt buffers were too tight against the glass.
