821.2 lb HUGE Blue Marlin on the COVERAGE - 2014 Cape Fear Winner

May 31st, 2014 - A day that will long be remembered on the COVERAGE...fishing the second day of the 41st Cape Fear Blue Marlin Tournament out of Wrightsville Beach, NC.
It was late, that time of the day when your just about over it and the short rigger pops out...everybodys looking, nobody saw a bite but that 130 is burning and you know it is game on!!! The fish soon surfaced a ways out and you could easily tell the mass and girth she had...listen to the first few comments about it....it was a true fish of a lifetime and tournament winner at 821.2 lbs!!
Big thanks to all the help and participants at the 2014 Cape Fear Blue Marlin Tournament! Great time and tournament

Wow killing the fish? Just sickening! I am an avid fisherman but the fish deserved to live killing it war terrible. If you were a true fisherman and loved your catch you would have released that magnificent fish. Catch and release is the way to go.

+BobmanCOC Oh, so you enjoy torture but not killing. You're so much better.. As long as a fish is well into its reproductive years there's no prob eating it.

If you watch the video you would have seen the fish came up completely exhausted. I've spent nearly 20 years chasing Marlin and in my experience Blue Marlin have a habit of panicking and diving deep to cold water. If you can get the fish to the boat within 45 minutes they have a chance of survival if you revive them but if not they literally go into shock and start dying. Sometimes a release isn't possible.
