DL34 isn’t owned by the W&L so it doesn’t have a history there. It’s on loan to the W&L by our friends at the Alishan Forestry Railway. The steam locomotives belong to the railway and have all worked on the line, although Monarch not for many years now. Countess is one of the two original locos built for the line. She has been in regular service until recently and we hope to have her back in service asap. Major overhauling a 120+ year old loco is a big job so that will take time and expense. The shed that these locos are in was built for display. We want our visitors to be able to see them rather than hide them away.
