I'd personally recommend Cardinal - it's a free and opensource VST wrapper around VCV Rack, allowing you to use it in a DAW. Though it can be a little buggy, it's super cool to be able to harness the massive VCV ecosystem without needing to pay for Rack 2 Pro.

This is a great video, covering some great freebies, by some really great developers! I try to use only free plugins, as much as possible, & always get really good results. I think the quality of some of these free / donationware tools is easily on par, & in many cases much better than some of the commercial / pay upfront plugins. It's just a shame that a lot of these great developers go under / turn commercial, due to the lack of donations / support. Cheers.

Audio Assault Blacksun! Almost perverted what you get. The best IR-loader. Dual Stereo. Nadir's stereo means you gotta tweak settings on the left and right and you can't combine 2 IRs in stereo mode. BTW: If you download a demo of Audio Assault, the IRs are on your HDD and accessible. They have very good IRs.

@@AudioTechTV I don't like the simulated Blackstar amp in it, but that's a matter of taste I guess. There's another unique feature. You can simulate a double-track guitar in real time! Amplitube 5 free is definitely cool, but kinda sucks in loading times. Combined with NaDir you might wanna check out Vadim Taranov's free amps. He has great Mesa Style amps, 5150, JCM800. The Stevie T amp you mentioned is great. Feels very real when used with 3rd party IRs. Keep up the good work.

Zane I have to ask, do you know if any of these drum plugins allow you put in your own samples. IE: wave files from a set of 1968 Round Badge Gretsch. Using what's already there is a good start, but I would really like to bring this set back to life in the digital world.
