This is Don Dufner's 830 Special (3 830's combined into a 6 wheel drive tractor) pulling a 10 bottom plow in 4th gear at the Hawk Museum's tractor show in Wolford ND.

This is just too cool. I have seen " doubles" and sometimes you see guys that have put three sid by side hooked together but I have never seen three tractors hooked together in the end like that .

That sure takes some brains and know how to make a very unique tractor like that. Great horsepower.

I'm not surprised at the ignorance of some of these comments. These guys have no concept of what it was like 40 plus years ago to try to step up production without having enough money or availability of iron. My Dad hooked together two 60 JD's back in 1963 because he needed more power. You did what you had to to get the job done. Great Video.
@dieselgeezer184 жыл бұрын
not only more power. Hooking up 2 tractors gives you more power but also gives you 4x4 and much better traction

You shouldn't be surprised. Ignorance just means "doesn't know". I'm more surprised by your assumption that these people should know what you apparently "know". If a person is less than 40 years old, why would they know what "things were like 40 years ago"? This is a seven year old comment so hopefully you assume less these days....

That's amazing how all three diesels are timed perfectly. I bet one throttle lever controls the fuel on all three tractors too.

Don miller..it was a way to increase output by doing more work with less people and help is usually hard to find on a farm..3 singles take three people to run here one guy runs three tractors and I'll bet they are all paid for too no tractor payment. Try looking at the situation from other people point of view and not just yours. Besides they are his tractors and he can do with them what he wants.....

pretty sure they rated them in H.P. hours per gallon . at least at the Nebraska tests . not trying to split hairs with you. but yes you are correct . Very cost effective . the JD R to this day still holds records . in HP per hour gallons .

Who would really want to farm with something that long? Even back 40+ years ago your headlands would be very wide! That thing would be better as 3 single 830s. I guess you can tell I'm not a jd guy for me its 3 cylinders n up! ( even though dad had a jd A) Sorry!!!

piece if junk? Why you call it a piece of junk? Have you ever driven it? Some people don't have enough money to buy a huge ass tractor. Many people back in the days would hook up 2 tractors together and make a very capable machine.
