It's amazing how the concept of time is different when you are a kid versus an adult. The difference between WMVI and Nitro return is 8 years. The difference between the Nitro return and now is 22 years. Yet in my memories the difference between '90 and '98 seems so much longer.

Me too. I remember thinking the first couple wrestlemanias were so long ago. Yet in the late 90s they were only like a decade ago. It’s over 2 decades since the Monday night wars and the attitude era. But just like you it’s seems longer in between the 80s and 90s, than the time between the late 90s and toda.

Say what you will about Warrior, Jim Hellwig, but he didn't die impoverished like many of his contemporaries in the business. Warrior knew how to manage his money, and he pursued fairly lucrative ventures after his pro wrestling career ended. Warrior's widow Dana and their two daughters are living well, in large part because Warrior never got in over his head in his financial pursuits. Even the often criticized "Warrior University" didn't break the bank for Warrior. He only took a chance with what he could "afford to lose" with Warrior University, his comic books, and every other Warrior-owned property or business pursuit. Warrior was "wiser" than a lot of people give him credit for being. In 1998, Warrior was paid well by WCW, however, he wanted more money than they were willing to give him, so he left. Warrior had amassed enough money to walk away from WCW, and not feel any sense of regret. He wasn't one of these tragic wrestlers in his 50s, with a banged up body, who had to work for scant sums of money just to break even each month. Warrior knew from the beginning of his pro wrestling career, that he had a "limited amount of time" to make a particular amount of money. Then he'd have to transition into something else.

He knew what fans of that era wanted. They wanted the jacked muscle head look and the cartoony character. He wasn't a mark for the business and worked simple and safe. It is a business and he was a business man. I laugh at all the wrestlers and fans that constantly rag on him like "he was a terrible worker" and "he didn't care about the business". He got rich and famous (which is the goal) and the other guys didn't. So who really didn't know how to work or know the business? Lol

Warrior always seems penny smart dollar dumb to me. I just think if he demands $550K to go to summerslam, and Vince does it. But it results in his suspension where he likely makes nothing until the next WM. He then is out of the business until 1996. He makes all the demands in 1996, no shows and gets fired again. Comes in for the the one payday with WCW and walks again. He got a few giant paydays, but I’d reason to guess that if he had stuck around from 1991 - 1998 and not made all those demands he’d have made multiples of what he walked with. Or even think if he hadn’t burned the bridge maybe he gets a limited dates deal for awhile and then spends years on the lengends deal and collects royalties.

A dude who jacked who squashes people makes money mainstream, helps the wrestler, the promoter, the company, the business and the boys to make more money. How no one has realized the most hated people in the business are the most successful but less skilled. How do people still not realize this. So what if there's a star that can't wrestle but is bringing your crowds. I'd love to have a company today that has a top star that sucks at wrestling but is believable that he would kick your ass like goldberg and then in the undercard have 5 great wrestling matches that give your "wrestling" fix. The good legit wrestlers don't draw money for a company. This is a work. Not a shoot. Same reason people say ufc is guys humping each other because regardless of the skill, if there's no character or personality, no one cares. I love wrestling but I don't hate on the unskilled guys who are huge and get a big push because they destroy their opponents.....that's the whole fucking point

According to the Warrior shoot interview from 2005, Hellwig said it was Hogan that negotiated with him coming to WCW. In that interview Warrior explained that Hogan was given Ted Turner's checkbook, and Warrior said it would be a pretty wild check to bring him in...Hogan wrote the check. If you listen to Hannibal's breakdown of Hogan's WCW contract - Hogan would've had the authority to do something like that, and there's little Eric Bischoff could do about it.

At the time and even now when I watch it I ask him in my head or even out loud "then WHY ARE YOU HERE, Jim"?! Should have brought him him in and let him do squash matches for two to three years and make him unstoppable, then after you’ve established him as an unbeatable monster, have a cage match on a pay per view, and have him do a clean job , right in the middle of the ring with Alex wright coming out on top, clean, and finally giving Alex the strap and giving him his long awaited Bruno push. It’s a very simple angle, I’m embarrassed to even mention it, knowing this was the plan all along until Alex wright fractured his cocksis. That would have been the final nail in Vince McMahons coffin. Contact me for booking ideas and , or full time positions.

Crazy how his WCW career was very similar to warriors initial WWF run. I know warrior wasn't technically undefeated going into wm 6 but he might as well been. Goldberg being u.s. champ when he beat Hogan, like warrior was i.c. champ when he beat Hogan. I also point out that steiners and Harlem heat feuded for the tag titles then Scott and Booker later feuded for the title similar to the rockers and hart foundation and Shawn/Bret. Almost like a bizarro version of 80s wwf

@@kennyfleck8630 people that are anti-goldberg because of the streak don't understand how hypocritical it is to be a fan of wrestling because I don't remember ANYONE popping for Barry Horowitz or Steve Lombardi. Every wrestler that has a name in the business is booked exactly the same. The only difference with Goldberg was the FANS started keeping track of his victories. The ultimate warrior in the 80s was pushed exactly the same, the road warriors in the 80s were booked exactly the same. Hogan, cena, the rock, roman reigns, brawn Strowman etc etc. The masses don't normally cheer for losers.

@@michaelmclaren1333 I definitely remember switching to WCW often as well simply because Goldberg came out, spear jackhammer and done, and we absolutely did not want to miss it, and we were counting his wins before WCW was lol. Also loved the gold...berg...gold... berg chants as well. It was different, it seemed different and was one of the few times it didnt seem too quick at all when he won the title. It fit. He seemed unstoppable and fresh. His push was a combination of good timing, and his believability. Lightning in a bottle type shit. Even loved his initial return at survivor series 2016. Perfect execution.

@@kennyfleck8630 Goldbergs moves were not technical/chain/ catch me if you can wrestling moves but every move he did was like shooting dynamite out of a 10 gauge shotgun. They were SO fast and explosive that nobody has matched even to this day. Yes guys like stroman, mark Henry, the big show, Ryback, wardlow and even Brock Lesnar are EXTREMELY powerful men in the ring but Goldberg was SO damn fast the cameras had a hard time keeping up with him. Hell even in the Goldberg/Lesnar 3 a few times the camera guys couldn't keep up. He's the only heavyweight that could out pace the camera men.

Warrior should have been at World War 3, maybe coming out during the entrances, and he could take out Vincent, Stevie Ray and Horace right off the bat. Wild brawl on the floor with UW destroying the NWO b-team. Warrior at Starrcade ? Probably could have been something there. His contract was for six months. He made 8 appearances in 2 months. He made over 2 million dollars and Eric/Hogan just didn't care. They didn;'t book him for anything ! They didn;'t want him to get over ! Listen to the fans the night after Halloween Havoc. The fans would have went for a longer feud and they did want to see UW. Eric and Hogan are just stuck on making NWO the only thing. They didnt' care they had Warrior, they botched Bret's run for 2 years straight without a major match or angle.
