Thanks for the honest review Dom! We'll definitely take your suggestion for using button head bolts on board, this is the kind of user feedback that is priceless.

Hi Dom Just found your videos. Its great to hear what an Auzzie knifemaker has to say. Great info for a noob knifemaker. Thanks. PS Just saw that you have no recent posts. Hope everything is OK.

I just switched to a Black Fox Knife Works grinder. Best one I've used by far. The belt tensioner is electronic, so just a flip of a switch and you can increase or decrease slack on the belt while it is running - also makes it easier to pull the belt off. It comes with a humongous work rest that fits against the platen both horizontal and vertical. They also have an optional stand with a bucket rest, but I'm going to build my own. The one thing I'd say it is missing is the spark guard, and I really like the setup of Alec's platen.

Yeh probably best investment for the workshop, definitely sharpening on one of these in reverse with variable speed is a game changer. Especially if you buy a power strop belt for it. Only thing I didn’t like was the 5 inch wheel should be included as standard because if you don’t have it you can’t flip the platten around to use the slack belt.

So what is your recommendation for a vfd? I make use of and sell the teco E510 ip66 (pretty sure that's what you have there).. but I'd love your opinion on which vfd is most 'intuitive'

Nice review thanks! I’m towing up between this one and the ARJ metalworks 2x72. Any thoughts? This one is significantly more expensive. Is it worth the extra money? Thanks 👍🏼 love the channel

I've had their 2x48 for the last year or so, totally agree with the stand its a really very good strong design without being complicated. (Plus if I'm just allowed to be a bit proud, its nice to buy a locally made Aussie tool because we mostly don't make much any more) With the E510, found that they like to be on a stand as well above the grinder and out of the way, keeps the wires clear of everything and also stops the heat sink from filling up with dust and shmoo from the inevitable mess that comes out of them. Even so I find myself going through it with an air blast a couple of times a week to dust it out and hopefully it'll help its lifespan and not set the shop on fire. They do seem to like a good quality power source though, any shitty power like I have out in the country tends to upset them a little bit. For the price, can't beat it
