86 aircraft flyover for France national day 🇫🇷

Paris was greeted to a spectacular mass flypast of aircraft from the French Armed Forces as part of the annual Bastille Day parade & celebrations, which happen on the 14th July ever year. This was filmed from the "Port Royal" bridge.

The A400m/ C130j formation was something to behold, these truly are big beasts, even the AWACS seem slick in comparison. There may be bigger parades in the future (a return to the previous habits then) as the Air Force is said to be planning extra acquisitions, the talks are of two Rafale squadrons, five more A330 and two dozen manœuver choppers, possibly drones as well.

I think it's an RQ-9 Lynx ...because we French don't arm our drones of course (lol). Though the Lynx should be in dark gunship gray, or even perhaps NATO black, which makes a pretty nice looking Reaper in the end, oops sorry a Lynx, we French don't use Reapers over ennemies (lol)

I were visiting Paris on july eleventh this year and were on top of La Grande Arche enjoying the view when all of a sudden this formation appeared right over me. Well... the smoke doesn't seem to be an issue in the actual flight over the Champs-Élysées, which is what matters. The following aircraft are always properly visible there unlike here, without the smoke ruining it.

Hi:-) Cute comment but France has been an independent and sovereign country for more or less two millennia so there’s no such thing as a French Independence Day. What the French celebrate on the 14th of July as their National Day is the takedown of a Royal Prison in Paris called La Bastille by the people of Paris. Therefore non-French people usually call it “Bastille Day”, although most French wouldn’t have a clue what you’d be talking about. Cheers😉

I lived 7 years in France, always felt respected there and many French know a lot about German literature, high culture, etc... Learning French, I established solid ties and connections with my French friends. I love France. Love its refined, brilliant culture and their country is stunning. France is our ally and friend. We were just one country under Charlemagne. We know it, they know it. They are the descendents of the Gauls and the Romans, but also of the Franks. The Franks were a Germanic nation, they gave their name to the country (France), they conquered the northern half of France at the end of the roman empire, they got latinised because nobles learned Latin in monasteries, etc... so their Frankish language fusioned with Latin and it gave Old French (and later on, the Norman invader brought Old French to England). A bien regarder la formation de Rafale M as bien la crosse baissée comme il se doit. La "nounou" c'est le chasseur qui chargé d'un "buddy pack" - un bidon avec un tuyau et un panier - fait office de ravitailleur. (bidons qu'on retrouve an bout d'ailes de certains tankers configurés "trois points" ou mixte "Flying boom" et "Probe and Drogue") Un avion équipé à demeure comme l'A330 MRRT et le KC-135/C35FR c'est un "tanker". Dans le système "probe and drogue", au bout du tuyau c'est une "panier" que le chasseur doit encôner avec sa perche dont le bout - qui peut se détacher en cas de problème à la déconnexion grâce à une pièce "fusible" - s'appelle comme il se doit un gland.
