Time for AAMCO ! Wish I never got rid of my 78 slant back saloon (as they call a full size 4 door in Europe ) never had a tranny issue with my car, diesel to gas conversion, they used the good trannys on the the diesel versions. Only issues were a starter rebuild every two years. I would consider the work well worth the time and money. I would hope the new owner puts some more love into it. A carpet replacement and any body work are in order. Such a classic should not be left to rot.

Great save! I own an 86 El Camino which I bought brand new, and a 79 Malibu Classic Landau which is a 305 factory 4speed , factory sunroof car. I pulled an 80 Caprice Landau out of a salvage yard a few years ago. Went through all of what you’ve done on this cutlass. I had to drop in a new engine as the 305 had a bad camshaft. It’s a rust free Arizona car with just a few dings here and there. It’s having the same transmission issue your cutlass had.

My sister had an 85 Caprice that had one of those "Electronic" carbs on it. Those things we're a nightmare! That seems like it was Chevy's bridge to Fuel injection. When it ran, it ran great, but didn't and with all the wiring to it, it was difficult to get to working right.
@ClassicGBodyGarage Жыл бұрын
GM used the electric carbs on all engines at some point from 1980-90 It was their way around Fuel Injection until they can phase out most of the engines they offered except for the small block chevy which ended up with fuel injection

Pumping the gas 10x isn't going to do anything vs pumping it 2x before you starting. Try pumping it 2x and then pump as your are cranking it. It will be fine. If not then the accelerator pump is possibly going bad

I know this is a little bit off topic. But right now I currently have a luxury sport in the body shop right now getting all the bodywork done and a paint job, but for some reason I’m running into so much hell when it comes to finding those chrome trim pieces that goes around the body of the car and a set of OEM tail lights. It seems like the tail lights are back ordered and been back order for at least two months now. I was saying it to ask, do you know any place I can find those products for a decent price. I found a couple of chrome trimming pieces, but the sellers want the moon for them and they aren’t in all that good of shape.
