After installing a Mark VIII electric fan in my 1993 the TFI quit on me, 6 to 8 months later. The temperature sensor for the fan control is in the radiator return hose, set at 185. The fan does not come on unless the A/C is running, until 185, the Engine thermostat opens at 195, heating the motor up. Without air flow the TFI cooked. Two years after relocating the TFI to the passenger fender, still no problems.

Hello! Glad you finally got it all sorted out. No wonder Fird relocated the TFI with a heat sink to the fender apron in 1994. This is something I should likely consider doing on my '86. Thanks for sharing your experience!!!👍👍

Thanks for this video! I'm having the exact same issue with my 87 GT (speed density_Automatic) It starts and runs on a cold start. After the engine is hot, turn the car off, then try to restart and it just continues to crank without turning over. I just purchased a new distributor and TFI. Hopeing it works ! 🤞

Hi, I totally hope this helps you out! In my latest video, it finally happened to me in my 86. And about two years ago, it also happened to a 92 Gt I had. Initially thought it was tfi, but turned out it was the p.i.p. sensor. Let me know if you where able to solve your problem!👍👍

I had the same problem with my ‘87. I put a new MSD distributor and the problem is gone. I swapped out the TFI module with a new one during diagnosing the problem, but the problem persisted. I decided to replace the whole distributor because I suspected the PIP module and the distributor showed play in the shaft. Great video.

I get a 98r code. Any ideas??
@306foxbody1Ай бұрын
@@ronhale2999 Hi, unfortunately im not familiar with that code... However, if you could check out the basics to see if you have spark and fuel. If there is no spark, I noticed on KZbin there is a test you can do, just using a regular test light, to see if the TFI module is good be probing one of the coil wires (the flat plug that goes to the coil). Also, if you have access to another known working distributor...it only takes a few minutes to swap them out and see if it runs... Also, check to see if you can hear the fuel pump pressure up when you initially turn the key on.... Hope this helps a bit. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching! I just hope it even helps one person...this one had me stumped for a bit. 1st time I ever witnessed a PIP sensor go...usually TFI. Thanks!

Dealing with a similar problem with my 90 lx i ordered a new tfi hopefully that will do the trick

Hope you get it sorted out! I usually keep a spare TFI module for when I go on a trip, but a whole known working distributor isn't a bad idea either. Thanks for watching!

I love the content! Is there any way you could make a video about changing from speed density over to MAf?
@306foxbody1 Жыл бұрын
Hi...great idea...I think i have all parts needed for a video. The MAF sensor, the pigtail, the ecm, and schematics to show what pins to tap into on the interface. Thanks for watching!

Not good...hooe you have it figured out. Strange thing is that my 86 cut out for me a few times. I'm still running the same stock 351 distributor that I've had for 20+ years. I going to have to pack a tfi, or even my extra distributor next time I go out. Same thing happened on the 92 in the spring. It ended being the p.i.p., but there where also filings in the distributor likely from the bushings. And the filings may have messed up the p.i.p. signal🤔. Hope to hear what it was and how you fixed it...

@@306foxbody1 yeah I got it figured, was ignition coil!

ECU has nothing to do with having no spark
@306foxbody1Ай бұрын
Hi, at the time I wasn't totally sure if the ecu could effect it or not...so we thought it was worth a shot...but thank you for bringing this to our attention...that's definitely very helpful information! Thank you!👍👍
