Resin Geode Coasters
I used Barnes "Clariti' resin in these coasters. I used Model Masters gold paint for the veining and edges.

Tip for mixing powders into your resin… put the powder in a separate mixing cup and then put about half to a full tablespoon of the resin you want to put the color in…. Mix the resin in the smaller container with your power up until it’s completely mixed in… then add that to the rest of your resin to blend… you won’t have any blobs of unmixed powders doing it like that and it also doesn’t blow every where when you try and mix it in the big container :) I was tired of stuff going everywhere… I actually don’t like to use mica powders because of this… but, sometimes I can't avoid them…

I was just thinking about the 'veining' just before you asked how. Now that you've asked I can give you ideas. In geology it would likely be due to a crack (fault) the in stone & would usually be the one thickest area and then would go outward from main vein. (Like a stream and it's tributaries.) I would recommend wiping the tool each time for best control. You'll find the best tool to as you play. I use one that holds a 'drop' and drag that drop downward. Veining in a plant would be it's life source and more size consistent as opposed to a geo crack that is random. Julie, I look up to you for your knowledge I Hope this helps and isn't TMI? you are rapidly becoming a resin genius, my dear! I love watching what you come up with next! These almost look like golden grass stalks against a marble or a cloudy sky. If you made just the marble background and painted with gold and then coated with a thin coat of resin, it'd almost look like a Japanese painting. Lovely!

The one that you like the least is the prettiest. Vaining on marble has no Rhyme or reason it just does it's own thing. I think you could have put gold down in the Resin and then put the gold lines on the back after you wait a few minutes. Just a thought. The gold around the edges just sets it off. I love them.

I love these. Sooo pretty. Since gold can be tricky, and resin is self leveling, it might be easier to add the gold veins after they’ve cured with gold leaf....then put a flood coat to tie it all together.

I just saw a similar project video from a different channel and the mold was filthy. You keep your molds in great shape, I'm sure they'll last longer! I can't see paying $60 for a mold and leaving it covered in goop! It's distracting to look at. Glad to see a nice clean workspace!

They look beautiful. I can imagine another set would look great with silver guilding marbling. Someone suggested cotton buds for guilding...they work surprisingly well. You could also try mixing guilding liquid with just resin (no hardener) and storing it as a resin paste for marbling the gold marbling lines x

Love these but do try the Krylon 18K gold,bronze and silver pens. They are awesome and you don't work near as hard painting the sides as you do with paint. Good work!

Hello there, I absolutely adore you and your great tutorials! I wanted to ask you a question, if you don't mind! I can't get all of the air out of my resin (I use a heat gun), and even the top is absolutely smooth, the bubbles are all at the bottom and it looks bad :( how do you take the bubbles out? :( thanks in advance!

Tray spraying with 99% alcohol spray ( away from naked flame ) for safety. This pops the bubbles or use u heat gun ( dint spay with alcoholic if using heat gun / torch ) a little longer or pop them with cocktail stick . Hope this helps 😁

I live in the uk an have Boyes stores where I buy this aircraft model paint for £2.80 . Comes in many many colours but I just use gold , silver an rose gold. Thin paint or make up brush. It goes a really long way as opposed to the 18k pens 😁
