88-98 2WD C1500 6” Rough Country Lift Install

Well folks, this lift took me 9 days to complete and I must say that I do feel more badass when cruising down the road. In theory, I should get more girls at car meets.
Make sure to be extremely careful when installing the new springs. If you don’t feel comfortable using spring compressors, don’t attempt the job.

How bad is the tire ware from the positive Camber?

I still have the same problem! They give you a balljoint spacer to help correct the camber angle but all that did was bend my upper control arms. Currently I’m running no balljoint spacer with a couple degrees of positive camber. It drives great anyways

Are you running all oem suspension with that lift? If so, how’s the ride quality and no negative camber? Also if u had the truck aligned, did they mention anything about the camber?

The camber is a fun time to figure out. Rough Country gives you upper balljoint spacers to counteract the camber issue but all they did for me was make my camber angle extremely positive. I'm running no balljoint spacers and stock leaf springs if that's what you mean by oem suspension.

⁠@@chrisdebisonsgarageI did the 4” rc lift on my 98 c1500 ext cab 2WD with 33x12.5/15 I noticed camber right away but never got to it Sold the truck in July .. what’s the real fix for this on the c1500s I now have a 99 suburban 2WD out of California really clean . I’m probably gonna 6” lift with coils and spindles . Did you notice a stiffer ride with the 2” taller coils? Imho the rc shocks are a gimmick I think they over pitch the sale on them .. as far as quality

I just had someone install the same exact lift. The wheels are pointing towards each other and it has a lot of negative camber. What could it be??

Are you sure it’s negative camber? Mine has a lot of positive camber. Unfortunately since we’re 2WD this is not adjustable. The lift did include upper ball joint spacers which play with the camber but all it did was make the camber more positive. I think the ultimate fix would be to get adjustable length upper control arms.

@@chrisdebisonsgarage gm made a perforated line that you can nock out for more alignment adjustment if needed. It's located on the inside of mounting points for upper control arms .air hammer or chisel will work

They are 15x8 rims and 35x12.5r15 tires. I can’t tell you the backspacing on the rims, bought them used

As long as you’re 2WD and leaf springs in the back, should be the exact same from 88-98

But the rough country website says it doesn't but the c1500 2wd drive suburbans and the c1500 2wd pick ups are almost the exact same

@@tg2963 May be something as simple as tie rod end positions that make the lift different. See if you can contact rough country or forums may be able to tell you if it will fit.

It rides great except for the fact that this lift adds unremovable positive camber to the front wheels. It still drives fine but it wears the tires a lot on the outside of the tread
