I heard this song and thought it was perfect for them :)
so I recently decided to catch up on Vikings (I was only on like s2) and, knowing how terrible Astrid's fate was going to be, prepped myself not to get attached. Lol, total failure. That bitch took my heart and soul and I am NOT ok. A queer death hasn't hit me this hard since Lexa, I think because of how brutal her storyline and ending were. I'm pretty miffed that this happened like two years after the LGBT Fans Deserve Better movement started, that was a very poor move on the showrunners' part. But I suppose I shouldn't be surprised since their treatment of women alone is pretty subpar and the way they approached the relationship between Astrid and Lagertha equally so. Really they could have done a lot better. They're much better at portraying relationships between men, than between men and women or women and women. Anyway, I'm pissed and heartbroken so of course I had to make a video. Well, two - another one is on the way.

Lol that tends to be the trend with a lot of my vids. God they deserved so much better, astrid in particular suffered so unnecessarily. I was having a discussion with my friends about it and we figured that she was probably one of the worst treated queer characters on TV with all she went through, especially considering that most of it came as a consequence of her relationship or feelings for lagertha, and then having lagertha kill her. Thankyou so much for your comment, sil. I'm really glad you liked the vid, it means a lot considering all your vids are terrific.

@@Welcometocaritas We deserve better, yes - but Astrid acts according to the Viking code of honour. A warrior or "skjoldmø" does not commit suicide, because that will send them to Helheim and not to Valhal. Far better then to die by the hand of a friend (or lover). There are several examples of this in Norse legends. Oh, and thanks for all the videos

Hmm that depends. I really like the female characters on this show, they're very interesting. At the same time they're all treated kind of poorly and there's some obvious sexism on the writer's part that can't be blamed on the time period it's set in. So just be prepared to suffer if you do watch. But like I said, I love the female characters and I like historical series so that's what drew me to it
