Yeah I am about 95% sure it’s his choice. I don’t think it’s 88 Rising’s decision to go through the awkwardness of not having him there and not being able to address it either.

But Joji did go, he performed a DJ set and even played his own songs afterwards for his performance. Since it was a two day event, he ended the first night with a finale of Slow Dancing in the Dark. I was there and his DJ set was the best for the crowd hype. unfortunately most of the artists leave after the first day of the event of their performance.

I was really sad for a full day after i saw this year HITC. I have been a fan since the first HITC album and when i saw Joji, Higher Brothers, Niki,... didn’t comeback or stay at the end each year like August. I have felt a huge emptiness in the stage. Hope that 88 will help create a magic moment like the final in HITC 2019 again next year

People keep blaming 88rising for joji not performing but last time I remembered, 88rising isn’t some kpop company. They would much rather have their most popular artist that literally all of 88rising fans love perform. I think it’s pretty clear that joji has always had health problems whether it’s physical or mental, and he’s been pretty much missing from most 88rising things for a while now. I think he’s just been mentally not there. I mean, if you were an fan for a while now, back when he was suppose to release his second album ‘nectar’ it was delayed so many times, it was delayed at least 3 times when it was suppose to be released in June of 2020 yet it was delayed constantly until September. Idk why people blame 88rising instead of joji not like I’m blaming him tho, but many artists seem to burn out or just don’t wanna perform. Frank oceans being the most notable one.
