897 - HGIBO Geirail (OOB Review)

According the wiki the Geirail was the suit Gjallarhorn used before the Graze was introduced making it IBO's Zaku I so the simple bare bones design makes sense with that in mind.

I like these more mechanical and slightly awkward type robots, the almost super hero looking protagonist suits are cool, but they become bland and samey when predictably every power up adds more design-ey flourishes. this feels more like a votom or a GM, a mass produced simple design. I really like the Zaku I reference with the color scheme and the odd weapons that Mossa prefers equipped on this thing.

I know it's been a long time, but holy shit dude you just blew my mind with the Zaku I reference!!! I never realized, I just thought the Geirail was meant to be in Graze colors until Galan Mossa repainted the blue parts- but man, the wiki said his unit was identical to the old versions, and you really just pointed out why!!! Thanks, man! It totally makes sense!

A veteran in an obsolete MS wielding construction equipment as melee weapons is the best demonstration of skill. If all MS frames were homogeneous in terms of strength, he could have defeated anyone. The problem with Gundam is that not all machine are equal, unlike in real life where most fighting vehicles between different countries are just as vulnerable as each other.

Yeah, i agree. Some gundams are so ridiculously overpowered, i would love to see a gundam anime where it's skill based; more realistic. I heard there was one realistic gundam anime but i forgot its name

Kanetake Ebikawa, which is the mech designer of all the graze variant suit does a great job on designing the suit and it translate well into model kit form. But Gyobu Ippei designs are just for the show, when his design translate into kit form, you'll find out the design is either too complicated or the color apps are too many for HG kits and Bandai have to give you a large stickers to cover those missing color apps.....And seam lines all over the place.... if you build any G-Reco kits, you know what I'm talking about.

Kimaris, Kimaris Trooper, Gusion, Io Frame Shiden, at the very least, would like to disagree. Also as hated as G-Reco kits are, the Gastima, Catsith, Grimoire were actually pretty good HG kits that look great too.

I didn't say all of them. I owned the HG Kimaris and Gastima as well and they're somewhat decent. But some of the design in G-reco and IBO are a bit complicated in the design and for a HG standard the parts separation are limited so yeah...Like the Gastima round shoulder design, there's no other way to hide that seams unless you modified it into panel line.

Not too much of a jump for any normal person to have read that as far as you're aware, all of his designs don't translate well into kit form. Nice try moving the topic back again to G-Reco though when some of the best kits in IBO are still actually Ippei Gyoubu designs and all you did in your first post is criticize his work with a blanket statement.

I'm aware of what I said. I know some IBO kits that designed by him is pretty good in kit form because the design is not that complex. I still think his design are not suitable translate into low budget HG kits. Well, some of them.

Farons the Terrible It's possible that they won't release MGs for the IBO line. They tried something new with the 1/100 scales, giving them inner frames despite it being non grade. Think of it like a budget MG cause they're way cheaper but a bit less detailed than an MG. An MG at this point would be redundant.

Farons the Terrible yeah, the 1/100 line is already really close to being MG (actually better than most of the early MG kits), so probably won't see many, if any, MG kits from the series.

The design is nice, but that "junk in the trunk" hover pack should have had moving parts. This is one of those kits that I order two of. One to keep "as is" for display. The other I use for parts. Or maybe use parts on that belonged to other kits. I assume the Graze Ritter spare boosters work on this thing. I could be wrong though, haven't tried it myself yet. If anyone on here tried it, please let me know.

the hook biy on the sheildax looks like a sheild hook. a sheild hook is a weapon used to hook sheild and move them out of the way. it's basically a middle finger to defensive fighters. it is also used to hook swords to lock them or pull them away from its weilder. nasty thing sheild hooks. if your creative you can do a lot of damage with a sheild hook alone.

Haven't watched IBO (actually haven't watched Gundam since the original series...), but this guy looks badass! Got that nice almost-industrial look that I loved from Armored Core. Also, I think it's pronounced "Guy-rail", not "Gay-rail".

There have been a few cool suits that haven't gotten kits this season, including those ones with the big shields from the first episode. I'm still sad that the Spin Rodi from season one never got a kit, even though they pretty much appeared in the anime only to get destroyed. :)

You can get their shields and head in the MS Option Kit, although I attached the two Claw Shields onto the Reginlaze instead.
