I have been a Ponty supporter since 1989. I was working as security on a function in Caerphilly Castle ( a wedding reception as I remember ) during the '90's and hadn't met Neil up until that point. He was not part of the wedding reception in the afternoon but turned up in the evening, sporting a plain white t-shirt and jeans and a little worse for wear. He said, "Hiya butt!" and made his weary way up to the bright lights and loud music of the Great Hall. I was so awestruck that I didn't even ask to see his invitation. He must have been on the guest list as we nor the police were called to eject him!

My second daughter would have been called Neil Scott (if she'd been a boy) after the win at Wembley in 1999. Probably Wales most unsung players - how many teams would love to have a Neil at 10 today?
