As well, my mom often cooks ham with pineapple chunks to flavour it, so would it not make sense for said ham, were it to be put on a pizza, to have pineapple as a complementary topping? Granted, it doesn't pair well with a majority of ingredients, but I don't think it deserves the amount of hate it gets, to be honest.
