Our whole country looks like an abandoned project or substandard project in comparison to serious and developed countries. We are not ready. Trees we no fit plant, roads we no fit line properly, gutters we no fit cover up to avalid mosquitos. The matter long.

@@Nurse_villa Hmmmm...... Thank you for sharing your thoughts, but I think there are better ways to approach this discussion. Using crude language to disparage Lagos and Nigeria doesn’t add value or make your point more compelling. Real progress is made through respectful dialogue and thoughtful ideas, especially when discussing a significant national asset like the old Federal Secretariat building. To address your suggestion directly, converting this building into a homeless shelter might seem beneficial on the surface, but it lacks a sustainable framework for tackling homelessness effectively. Homelessness is a complex issue that requires dedicated resources, targeted social programs, and a clear plan for reintegration and support services. Simply converting an iconic structure into a shelter without addressing these underlying issues would be a temporary fix at best and may even detract from the overall value and potential impact that a structure of this scale could have on Lagos and the nation. There are several ways this building could be transformed to contribute to Lagos' development while benefiting Lagosians and Nigerians at large: 1. **Educational and Research Hub**: The building could house a world-class educational facility or research center, focusing on key areas like technology, medicine, and sustainable development. This would foster learning and innovation, attract talent, and create job opportunities, uplifting Lagos as a knowledge and innovation hub in West Africa. 2. **Mixed-Use Community and Cultural Space**: By creating a blend of cultural spaces, affordable housing, and local retail, the building could help celebrate Nigeria's rich cultural heritage while providing accessible living and economic opportunities for Lagosians. This type of development would encourage community engagement and offer a more balanced, sustainable approach to urban renewal. 3. **Incubation Hub for Startups and Small Businesses**: Converting the structure into a business incubator would support local entrepreneurs and small businesses, which are the backbone of Lagos’ economy. This would provide a constructive environment for budding entrepreneurs, offering mentorship, resources, and networking opportunities to spur economic growth and job creation. 4. **Eco-Friendly Tourist Attraction and Event Center**: Given its historical significance, the building could be transformed into a tourism and event center, attracting visitors and promoting local arts and culture. An eco-friendly design with sustainable energy systems could set an example in green urban renewal, showcasing Nigeria's commitment to modernization and sustainability. 5. **Public Health or Community Service Center**: Given the population density in Lagos, transforming this structure into a modern public health facility or community services center could provide vital health and social services to Lagosians, improving public well-being and easing the load on other healthcare facilities. By considering options that create long-term value, we can make better use of public resources and enhance the city's image in ways that reflect its growing importance. This would create a lasting impact, positioning Lagos as a progressive, vibrant, and sustainable city - an approach that’s much more constructive than labeling it negatively. In the end, it's crucial to remain respectful and forward-thinking. Effective change requires a positive mindset and innovative solutions. Dismissing Lagos or Nigeria as a 'sh**hole' doesn’t advance the conversation. Instead, let’s explore real solutions to elevate our cities and embrace sustainable development for all Nigerians.

Thank God for Nigerian vloggers like Menapolee!! Your contents are like a lance that will poke and prod the conscience of our various governments to goad them into action!!! Our multiple governments are all slacking ( In fact our local governments are actually comatose) . The mantra of "dividends of democracy" the politicians all chorused in 1999 is long overdue !! More and more (and even more) proactive progressive actions are needed and expected!! We are waiting!!! We are watching!! 👊🏾🇳🇬👊🏾🇳🇬!!!!

You know you can make your case without giving a fack title. You make it seem like it was a project that was never completed. My usage idea for the old ikoyi office building is to turn it into an international medical center equipped with a short runway and Helipad. I will give out this plan for free if the government is interested.
