[8F][4k] Rush Hour, Amtrak Horn Show & Auto Train, Folkston Funnel, CSX Nahunta Sub, GA 07/16/2021

Almost like in the "good ol' times," CSX and Amtrak put up a great show of trains in Folkston, GA in the afternoon hours of a nice summer day in July. After several hours of work on the crossover of the double-track line south of Folkston had ceased, the flood gates opened and train after train showed up within a few hours. In this video, which concludes the "Expedition to the Deep Southeast" series ((www.youtube.co..., we watch 8 trains including manifests Q455, Q456, Q441and intermodals Q032, Q026, Q025. Eventually, Amtrak 98 (Silver Meteor) - with a great horn show for the railfans present - and the remarkable Amtrak Auto Train 52 roll by. Enjoy!

Absolutely! Unfortunately, one has to wait out the work windows before the flood gates finally open. I spent the entire day in Folkston, but the morning was very slow. All trains in this video showed up after 2pm (there were a couple from that morning in the first video in this series).

Nice catches. I actually caught Q025-15 the day before you filmed this stuff up in Tennessee and the power for Q026 I caught on Q025-14 the day before the 15th. Had you been up here maybe two days earlier, you would have caught 1776 on Q026-14.

That's funny you caught some of this stuff, too. I think I even knew that 1776 was in the area, but I spent the days before in Florida railfanning FEC, which was the main purpose of the trip.

Great video.love a train horn show.amtrak train shot was great.i managed to catch a train out in old hickory tn.where my bf lives.saw it unhooking from hopper cars at a rail yard out there.caught sight of it as i was heading to see him before i crossed the bridge to come home.before dark.no fun crossing it in the dark.pushing a bike.and around the curve.

Looks like CSX rules this part of Georgia. We only see blue locomotives in this video. Personally I don't have a problem with this, because they are all very tidy. The trains are long in this area, no surprise they need mid or rear DPUs. Do you know how long is the Miami - NYC journey with Amtrak? I'm sure that's an exciting trip with lots of interesting scenery along the way. Great video again, thank you for the entertainment. :)

NS has its own line to Jax, but CSX dominates traffic to/from Florida.The journey Miami/NYC takes about 27 hours (if on time). I'm happy you enjoyed watching this compilation :)

Well, I have seen "enough" CSX power to know them, but there are also good websites that list their entire roster and road numbers. Just google for "CSX motive power".

I don't exactly remember, but Folkston saw about 20-25 trains per day around that time. I don't know if this has changed since.
