I think a big part of the meta you missed was the suppressor meta, which lasted as long as the old silent killer skill was around, basically acing the skill would give suppressed weapons a 30% damage boost. This was taken by everyone, and made revolver and other weapons that couldn't be supressed clowns

I got a detail to fill in pre-crimefest 2014, technically perk bonuses were a thing, dubbed skill tree tiers, but were ones that were split around each tree if you invested enough on a skill tree, reinforcing the idea of player identity with a singular unchangeable build. Dodge was apparently a thing before then as pointed out by JamesBlack47's rant video regarding Grinder trumping everything.

"Are you a boomer who wanna fill in the gaps?" I am putting my pride aside so there it goes. Gage mod courier was game changing. It pioneered the car-4 and loco meta. This was before the perk deck introduction. There were some odd weapons choices such as Gruber but car-4 loco masterforcer dominated the meta. Till the perk decks introduction that is. Fugitive tree introduced alongside with perk decks. This tree had first aid kits and bullseye which are in still the meta. Crimefest 2015 weapon changes are still in effect to this very day. The hipfire debuff was removed, lmg and minigun speed penalties removed, every shotgun was given 12 pellets. I think dragons breath was also buffed to its current state but not quite sure about that one. This state lasted years aside from occasional damage buffs to keep the guns relevant on higher difficulties. One down was a mistake. Aside from that usual power creep with dlc weapons. I am going back to my slumber now.

I remember back in 2013 before DW anything that wasn't ICTV was essentially garbage, even if just CTV. Anybody with a level of 80 (no infamy because that didn't exist either) were gods as well and would have carried you through any Heist. DW at release was insanely difficult, even with toptier players back in the day it was almost impossible to beat until Perk Decks came around and also probably because players improved. While Dodge was pretty much Meta other stuff like a fine Muscle ICTV setup did the job just as good. It's just that noone used that. I also want to mention how the community didn't change whatsoever over the years, a pub DW Big Bank from 2014 would have the same people joining that would have picked a DS Big Bank nowadays lol Anyway, no KZbinr Tierlist, I am mad. @@c3lest1na45 well gamers are gamers afterall, CSGO also Always was toxic even before it became free to play don't get me started on 360 or ps3 cod Lobbys, they where toxic before People ate sh... Payday Always was ignorant or toxic towards starters, I would actually say it got way better nower days, I'm getting in so Many great stealth pub Lobbys with just randoms trying to beat firestarter in stealth. Back in the days you got kicked from a stealth lobby if you had a Level below 40

I'm very late to this party but I have boomer stories to fill in that i didn't see others bring up. In the beginning was the holy duo. The techforcer and masterforcer. Both in ICTV, both with loco and whatever. One had inspire and medbags, the other had 50% more armor and ammo bags or c4 as the heist demanded. We rushed rats on overkill for XP and blew up the lab on purpose, all was well. You have already heard the stories of mod courier and the car 4 meta that followed. We built for 40 damage to one hit tans on death wish and 18 accuracy. The next massive change was the shotgun pack. It brought a new king, the HE shotgun. It killed shields from the front, it stunned everything and took the faceplate off dozers easily. Soon after the judge arrived and car-4 and HE judge became high meta. Hoxton breakout brought perk decks and the rest you know. Aside from one small detail. The balloons were not the strongest meta. The strongest meta lasted but a weekend when overkill pushed an update that accidentally made it so you could get 100% dodge with rogue by making a skill that should be 5% dodge 50% with a typo. This was in the grinder era unless I'm misremembering.

Hi ma! Thanks for the explanations! Helps put some of the game into perspective. I do think the detail of *Kingpin is now unavailable on Steam* was an important one to miss, though, considering how much fun it can be.

I recently started using ex-president. It's good, but I think the dodge chance should be replaced with something else that helps the deck no matter what you're building instead of just giving you 15 dodge that does nothing relaible or nothing at all unless you're stacking dodge. Also your health reserve shouldn't reset if you regen 0 health.

It's a healthgate deck. When your armor is broken, the regenerative boost blocks health damage to "gate it". That's why it should be depleted if no regen.

Back in the days you can get 50% dodge by default and +25% when running, it was good memories.

49% Dodge to be more correct, suit grants 24% dodge with ghost skill tier boosts and duck and cover ace gives +25% when sprinting, resulting in 49% Still would go for flak jacket instead

@@Protog3n_pd2 I dont know why would you want to reply to a comment that is 2 years old. But I'm sure that back in the days (around 2014-2016) there was a time you can get default 45% dodge with rouge and 5% dodge with suit, and then pair it with Sneaky Bastard (+10% with low detection rate) and Duck and Cover aced while sprinting (+10%) and bot will get you 5% more dodge rate so you really can get 75% dodge rate. You can search the long guide in steam payday 2 guide, in the dodge section it just says that. I DO know rogue got nerf now and only get like 50% or 49% or whatever but I quit playing this game like 1 or 2 years ago and I DO say it is good memories and not this game's present state.

Actually in 2013 the lightweigt vest was meta, with the free dodge from ghost skill true bonus you could dodge, run fast and tank a few shots. I know these because recently i played the PS3 payday2 which is stuck in the 2013 chrismas update. Oh and the best rifle was the commando 556, 40 dmg (1tap to the head) with high firerate and good pickup , the only downside was the avg accuracy of 12 which is fine for killing snipers anyways.

Congrats on the 8K subs Daucus carota One thing that I felt should have been mentioned in the meta part of the video is the Gage Spec Ops Pack as this DLC introduced the world to speedpull magazines and allowed the izhma shotgun to become the DB/crit shotgun to use on OD

Grimm was meta at one point prior to the shotgun nerfs, it was, i would argue, quite a big part of meta at one point. Shotguns used to be fucking snipers overkill + frenzy + crits, you could wipe shit with grimms.

Big thing to note is at one point Shotguns were arguably the meta with how easy they were to use. This is especially true prior to the range modifier changes.

I miss the days when Crook was seen as "Meta" and Sneaky bastard aced was more common because we didn't need to min max the skill tree to get every tiny amount of benefit from the skill trees like counting the exact amount of calories in a meal prep instead of just getting takeout.

Gambler IMHO. Healing you get is almost non-existing, because of this stupid 3sec cooldown between heal from each ammo pickup ( wich you generaly do in bulk ). Full hp reset (but not downs reset ) from useing ammo bag would also fit it's theme. Biker, maniac and tag team could also use some care from overkill. Tho in case of tag team, I'm not sure if perk deck is truly bad, or just so few people have it ( and even fewer know how to use it right ).

Yakuza. I know it's good in stealth, but I wish there was a proper reason to use it in loud. Extra runspeed doesn't really matter in a game with one shot snipers and hitscan green dozers.
