@@Pikachu-qr4yb sometimes if you dont ask for cleaning for long time ofcourse the hotel people will worry if you are still alive inside or if you are doing illegal activities. I'm a host and it worries me when guests dont communicate for long period. But I usually message the guests and ask if they need cleaning and if they reply no then I'm glad for less work. One time I have couple guests and they stayed for a longer period in my room. I ask them if they need cleaning once in a while and they always decline. I think they're drug addicts based on how they move. When they checked out the room is rotten., the white towels turned a little green, there are thick dirts on the floor and the batroom and sink has algae on them. Room cleaning is for free for them cause they were paying for per day stay so it made me think they're not ok in the head. But last thing hosts want would be death inside the room, so we try to communicate with guests once in awhile to see how they are.

As a previous "Room Cleaner" I can confirm rooms get a basic clean, no extras. With an average of 20 or more rooms daily housekeepers do not have time to sanitize thoroughly. FYI : Clean bed linens daily. But they never change the bedspreads, unless there is a visible stain/heavily soiled. The next sleep over in a motel, remove the bed spread, use your own cover. Why not change the bed spread daily? To cut cost of laundry soaps, electricity, and labor (wages). Its gross knowing, they put a used/dirty cover on top of clean bed linens. Take some Lysol wipes on every road trip. Wipe down all high touch surfaces, T.V. remote, phone, etc. A huge shout out to all the hotel room cleaners that are WORKING.
@pamelawing5747 Жыл бұрын
I have taken my wipes with me for a long time now, even before COVID. I don't make a big deal out of it, but even when at a restaurant, if they don't have a table cloth, I wipe down the surface after sitting down. I look around to see where the waiters are and if anyone is looking. I wash my hands a lot and wipe surfaces in the hotel rooms. I always turn the spread way down to the bottom of the bed. I can adjust the heat or air to be comfortable and I usually have a sweat shirt or sweater I can put on if cold.

Heck - I am happy if they clean the rooms between guest stays. I rented 3 rooms at MGM Grand last May, and two of them were dirty, and one was filthy. Complaints to the front desk did nothing...They said they were short staffed and were doing the best they could...They did say they would be very happy to refund and cancel our reservations for the 4 nights. With needing 3 rooms next to each other though, we felt it would not be advisable to try to find another hotel at the last minute, so we opted to clean the rooms ourselves, when we realized that management was not going to help us out. They even had the water shut off from about 11p to 5a one night due to a leak they said. We had to schlep down to the casino in the middle of the night to use the restrooms....(the only consideration they gave, was to tell us they would not charge the resort fee for that day....At check out, of course there was no record of it, and the desk manager refused any adjustment to the bill) I know it means nothing to them, but they lost 8 of us as customers for life at that property.....(Due primarily to written complaints to their operations team, the marketing team, and their corporate office not getting a single response.) Fortunately, the Bellagio has not reached these levels, at least in my experience. (We are going to try Park MGM for 4 nights, then on to Bellagio for 4 nights this summer) - I am hoping it is just the Grand being poorly managed, and we will not have the same results this year at these two properties of theirs. (I have heard of many poor experiences from others on their lower-end, value properties though, so it may be an issue with their entire brand?) We have gone several times to their Beau Rivage property in Biloxi, and have always had great service there. (And it is a super deal as well...They give us airfare, 4 nights, $100 in freeplay, and $100 in resort credit for an all-in price of $50 each for everything - I highly recommend this trip if any MGM reward card holders get the offer)

I live in Phoenix. Started going to Vegas in the mid 80's probably 6 times a year. Now, a flight from Phoenix on a Friday afternoon and returning around noon to 2Pm on a Sunday averages around $500-$600. Resort room fees on average are at least $400 a night. Black Jack tables are minimum $20, Food which used to be super cheap is now very expensive along with everything else. Haven't gone back since 2019. They can keep it.

The union always has something to complain about. They're the reason guests see higher fees and rates. They have to bring in so much to continue to meet union negotiation demands. De-unionize the hospitality industry so hotels drop rates and us guests can vacation more to Vegas. They pushed COVID protocols and cost casinos so much money with the steps that had to be taken. They pretty much wrote the bill for their pet, Gov. Sisolak. Then they complained when casinos cut jobs.

So the issue is people trying to earn enough money to live on at a basic level, but the true victims are the people with enough disposable income to throw away on vacations and luxury hotels?
@TheFrenchPug Жыл бұрын
You ate 100 % spot on! All the Union was doing was making sure they did not disrupt their income flow. That's priority #1 to them.
@shaolinnomad Жыл бұрын
@wvjeepguy81 Without the tourists with disposable income, there is no Las Vegas. People have the right to earn a basic wage, however union negotiations are not tied to any type of performance, therefore their members are not held to any standards, yet they expect to receive more perks, benefits, and higher wages with each negotiation. At what point does a wage for a basic job hit a cap? When the union doesn't get their way, they strong arm the casinos with threats to strike. When they strike, they also harass the customers they are supposed to be providing customer service to. The union is a business, just like the casinos. It's not like the union reps, like Ted Pappageorge, work for free and out of the kindness of their heart for their members. I'm sure he's taking home a hefty paycheck, while his members struggle to earn a living.

So the problem is we don’t need a bunch of unnecessary cleaning. We don’t need people coming in our room every day and I’m supposed to be worried about the cleaning staff. There are far far more dangerous and dirty things in Vegas than Covid.

If daily service is a thing of the past, then don't expect a clean room when you check in. Some guest treat their rooms worse than their own homes. So don't expect a housekeeper to clean it well.

They should simply make house keeping wear body camera so if anything is taken the footage can be reviewed to see exactly what they did in there. If the guest doesn't complain within 24hrs then just delete the footage it's that simple. To make people feel comfortable

Confused. I thought they stopped cleaning rooms daily to protect workers at the begining of the pandemic from entering a covid room. I thought they stopped daily cleaning because of the workers laid off during the pandemic and the low number of people visiting ... leaving only a few workers left to clean rooms.

We traveled all over the US during “lockdown” (except Vegas & Cali). Not a single hotel cleaned every day, they all had signs that they only clean every 3rd or 4th day of stay. One even had “weekly”. We just asked for extra towels & put the used ones out in the hall with garbage can if needed.

I stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn two years ago. On the *third morning* of my week stay, they decided to start charging $15 for the breakfast in the lobby and had the gall to start leaving checks at my table! Hospitality is as out of control as food service is. And your alternative is to use airbnb and pay $600 a night to stay in a suburb 45 minutes off the freeway and plan another 4 hours doing laundry and scrubbing the shower. What's stopping people from just opening an ethical hotel in their town and paying and charging appropriately at this point? Are there no entrepreneurs left in Vegas?

Maybe if the guest could 'choose' the cleaning time , it may be better. A hotel guest doesn't want to be up late at night in Vegas especially, only to be awakened by a 10am cleaning schedule. No thanks. Give people an option as far as times to clean that work. Every guest is different. Personally, I sleep in. If housekeeping comes into my room, I'd want it between 6-8pm at night. Would be amazing to go out to dinner and come back to a cozy-tidied room vs the hassle of early morning. Honestly, the house-cleaning duties should be revised...It's outdated Just my two cents
