You can do this without using a tool and removing the bolt from the shock mount to the knuckle and the spring will litterally fall out when you lower the jack to the spring mount. Then all you have to do is jack it back up and put the bolt in

Unfortunately that doesn't work on the 8th gen Maxima. You still end up with about 3" of preload on the spring if you do it this way.

Yeah.... I'm sitting here struggling with this. I actually left early because I was about to throw a rental coil spring compressor through the front windshield of the maxima.

Works perfectly for the altima to remove bottom bolts completely and use a jack under spring cradle

Cartman spring compressor on Amazon are just like the one I use.
