Same here. So many things about it... people hanging out of the windows helplessly.. imagining being in the floors above the impact zone and what it was like.. how Smokey it really was... I keep thinking there is no way I would die in there.. but honestly it does seem like there was no way. Imagine trying to find a stairwell in a fairly unfamiliar building while the lights are probably off and black arid smoke everywhere.. and to be that high up.. it’s just insaine.. I wonder to myself sometimes if some of the jumpers were hoping there would be some type of net or landing pad below.. I also wonder if there was any way to scale the building to a lower level.. idk but it almost makes me wish I was there.. as weird as that sounds.

Yeh I get a compulsion to look up things on 9/11 from time to time, I thunk it's because it's a huge moment when life changed forever, I was 21 and was watching the news in the UK about the first plane and saw it happen live on the news when the second plane went in, i'll never forget or the shocked news anchorwoman Kay Burley and the aviation guy in the studio saying "well there's no doubting now that this is a terror attack". It's surreal thinking back to how horrendous it was to see people dying in front of us on TV. That night I went to bed feeling so nervous and such a sense of foreboding especially once Bush and Blair shook hands in solidarity as I knew that would herald dangerous times to come in the UK which course it has done a number of times and we never know when or where something might happen again.

Watching this is nothing compared to what their families are still going through, and what the ones in the towers felt felt when it was happening. Watching this is taking our time to remember them, and acknowledge who they were. In my opinion this is the very least we can do for them and their families

For the same reason I and countless others served, because we don’t want to forget. We want it to stay in our minds. This day was so chaotic and traumatic that it’s embedded into our history. For certain people it’s a way of keeping these poor peoples legacy alive. At 7 yrs old I decided that fateful morning that I would become a soldier and make them pay for such an act. Fast forward 12 yrs and I did just that. These people were our people. They resided on our dirt. No matter what, if you are an American this will stick with you. Sadly this was our modern day titanic. Now it will be in history books as another tragedy.

That is true had they known there is even a risk of a 2nd plane hitting the tower. As they didn't... their fear was that a rush evacuation would evolve to a disaster of its own. There were many cases where panic ended up with people trumping others when all crushed to a bottle neck.

Absolutely. Instinct is truly everything. Do what feels right! One time I got lost in the sand dunes of cape cod as the sun was setting and was told by the sheriff to stay where I am and that the rescue vehicle will find me. I didn't and start walking down a path, and that's where they ended up picking me up. Had I stayed where I was, they would have driven right by me and I wouldn't have gotten down to them in time. Always always trust your instincts in life.

That fireman that ran up those fights and made it up is one brave man. It’s incredible how determined some are to save the lives of complete strangers. We need to remember how grateful we are to have these types of people; policemen, firemen, and military personnel.

My uncle ray passed away trying to save people from the towers. He was a volunteer firefighter, his car got blocked in and he couldn’t leave early that morning. He received the call and decided he wanted to try and help as many people as he could. He never came home, none of his remains were found. Rest In Peace.

21 years ago 9/11 changed my family forever. Orio Palmer was my uncle. My Aunt Debbie and Uncle Stephen have both passed away since this documentary.. I'm grateful to be Orio's nephew. His legacy will live on forever.

Something as simple and routine as going in to clean out your desk, or a job interview, or even just going to work- we never know when it’s going to end. Some people make fun of me but if I care about you, I always say I love you when I part ways with someone. Yep, the youngest on the planes was 2 and the youngest in the buildings were 18. So tragic that they had to die so young. (Kids on the planes were between the ages of 2-11).

Thats what i was thinking.i mean it must have been known when the 1st plane crashed into the first building that it was highjacked.they could have evacuated everybody in tower 2 as a precaution.all higher up areas of communication between different sectors was lacking to say the least.alot of people could have been saved had Air traffic control made it known the first plane was highjacked.

@@gina3498 yes they did know about the hijacked plane before the first one hit, I watched a documentary about it the military and air traffic control was communicating trying to figure out where the planes was and once the first plane hit tower 1 they had known it was hijacked and that’s when they should of instantly evacuated tower 2, the jets was waiting for the coordinates of the AML175 as the coordinates was different for the military and air traffic and there was lots of planes in the air at that time so they left to late. Very sad but I suppose it was a situation none of them had been in before, but common sence would tell you to Evacuate the second tower and if my boss told me to stay at my desk I would quit there and then and get up and leave lol

I think complete shock took over . They knew that death was unavoidable. They wanted to say goodbye. Stephan was so young and his mom is a beautiful human being to think the way she does. She was blessed with all those children I hope that they have healed and know that they will see him again.

I think the people inside the buildings were more calm bc they couldn't see how bad it looked from the outside so for a little bit in the beginning they had a bit of hope until it faded but those poor people on the planes knew instantly they were never getting off the planes. I'm glad there was time for so many of them to make these calls especially with most bodies never being recovered at least it's a little bit of knowledge for their poor families. 😢

Lindsay Cacatian but it shouldn’t, because it is the kindest thing a person can do in those last moments, like a loving parent, telling a child “it’s gonna be okay, you’re gonna be okay” even if that parent doesn’t know for sure, it is soothing to believe that someone else has the controls, and that person is telling you, you will be okay. They probably gave the victims a sense of peace before they died. Being a 911 operator is not for the faint of heart and they know when they are speaking with people it can be for the last time. That job has a high turnover rate. Idk anyone who could retire from that job. It is very traumatizing.

So many stories of people who did escape said the same thing: they were told to stay where they were & wait for rescue but something in them said to try to get out so they did whatever was possible to escape. It saved their lives. One women tried to get the people she was with to try and leave with her but they refused & even tried to stop her from going. She left anyway & escaped just before the whole building collapsed. She said she still has nightmares of trying to get people to escape a catastrophe but they refuse & she wakes up screaming.

I watch the 9/11 documentaries every year…. I’ll never forget and I cry every time. Such a horrible tragedy and attack on our nation. I hope we all continue to embrace each other like we did after 9/11. Americans came together and there was shared love and acceptance. It’s sad that today there seems to be so much division. Something I learned a few years ago: If a parent receives a message from their adult child that they witnessed or were involved in some terrible event but are okay themselves, always call them back even if they didn’t ask or said they’d call back later. Yes, they called to say they’re safe, but they’re also most likely traumatized or frightened and need to hear mom’s or dad’s reassuring voice. It’s ingrained in us from babyhood who our main protector is and that’s what people revert to. We know of battle-hardened men calling out for their mothers. I recently watched a video of a tough 56-year old detective who said he heard someone calling for their mother after he’d been shot and was at death’s doorstep. He said it shocked him when he realized it was him who was calling for mother.

The fact they didn’t allow the people in the south tower to leave immediately because “the building was secure” makes me so angry. How can you secure a building against another plane crashing into it? What did that even mean? I imagine so many people would have been desperate to get out of the building asap and the death count was ultimately doubled because neglect. So many lives could have been saved if they had evacuated the building smh.

I remember when Woody.EXE (he’s from a horror Toy Story game) paid a very emotional tribute to the passengers of flight 93 and he gave me the unforgettable honour of reading the names of the brave passengers who died fighting back. I got very emotional honouring Todd and Sandy, I even said the “Let’s roll” quote when I paid my respects to him and I could imagine that Todd was looking down on me at that moment. Then Woody.EXE ordered authorities to ring out bell towers at least 3,000 times in honour of each victim who passed on. I’ll never forget the 22nd anniversary

Alll that I can think of is the silence the operators heard when the second tower collapsed… they went from thousands and thousands of panicked and scared people begging for help that would never be able to come… and then nothing… silence. It solidified the fate of all who were killed. I’m watching this on 9/11 of 2023 and it still gives me chills and incredible sadness. @@DesireeJ007 we had to attend grief counseling for a week or two after the attack. Verizon was actually very supportive. That morning 911 was clogged with calls. So a lot of people called 411 just because they knew they would speak to someone. I’m pretty confident that some of the folks o spoke with that day never made it out.😢 My dad was a carpenter that helped build World Trade Center back in the day. He was working in Manhattan that day and we had no idea where he was. No cellphone at the time. Finally he called the house and spoke to my mom. He was working on 5th Ave in midtown Manhattan luckily. The 2nd plane that struck flew right over his head while he was carrying a huge piece of glass into a building. They all looked in horror when the aircraft struck WTC. He could hear the jet engine revving up as it past over head. I’m pretty sure my dad walked over the 59th street bridge into Queens and then they got on a bus or something like that. Sorry I wrote a novel here. May all the people that passed that day RIP

Jim Dwyer spoke so truly that the voices are the only record of what was going on inside those buildings. We saw what happened from the outside but only can imagine what happened on the inside. The few that survived and got out can tell us their experience, but those are only a few. The ones who could not escape only had their voices and their attempts to calm their family members. Watching 23 years later brings back the strong emotion and empathy for those who lost their loved ones. I only wish peace for those grieving loved ones. Thank you for allowing these families to share their stories.

One of the unspoken group of hero’s of that day was the 911 operators. They tried in vain to help. They knew it was over for those people. But they still got names and locations and offered words of hope, comfort, and prayer for those suffering on the line with them. They were overcome with phone calls and information. I couldn’t imagine their guilt and feeling of helplessness. Hero’s too!! ❤️

Yeah, like, those who were on the floors that were hit on the North tower, probably none of them survived the crash. Worst was on the south tower cuz the plane hit the 77° floor lobby, which had a lot of people there wondering if they should or not get back to their office. Hope at least that they didnt suffered 🙏

The monsters who murdered these people also left a legacy. We owe it to the innocent victims and their loved ones to never forget that evil exists, and to be ever watchful. I didn't know anyone directly affected by 9/11 but it changed my life. I can't imagine how it changed the lives of those who were directly affected. I remember I was driving to work that Tuesday morning and a lady reared my car. I think she had road rage and the police was called. When the Police officer arrived we were both upset at the car crash and I’ll never forget his words “Ladies, America is under attack. We don’t know what place will be hit next. Could be here. Exchange insurance information and go home! I will not take a report”. Both of us ladies cleaned up our act, exchanged insurance information and went home. We must never forget that Islam is not a religion of peace.

What always bothered me immensely is the fact that all the people stuck in the North Tower had to watch the South Tower collapse in front of them. It must have been horrific. Especially them wondering if their tower would also collapse. Gives me chills every time I think about it.

It's been 22 years, a lot has changed, a lot of things have stayed the same, but these images and noises always take you back to that day and make you feel exactly the same way you felt that day - shocked and shaken to the core. Strangely however, you feel enriched and more humane when you watch these scenes. You reflect on your life and realise that life is short and very fragile and you shouldn't waste any more time to tell someone you love them and you shouldn't waste any more time to finally start living, loving and appreciating life.

The amount of utter despair and agony of realizing that you missed the last opportunity to ever speak and listen to your loved one’s voice again surely takes more strength and perseverance to overcome than I could ever imagine. I'm also 63 and live in the UK, and remember where I was at work, and our Manager coming in to tell us the World Trade Centre had been hit, and we all stood there in absolute shock then someone turned on the radio, and we listened to the broadcast in disbelief. I will never forget that day and what unfolded . It still haunts me to this day.

The movie World Trade Centre traumatised me when they literally filmed the real person fall from the f***ing building and I felt like a helpless 21 year old girl that night watching the film. I held United 93 and Woody close by, Woody said the most horrible thing ever “Oh there she goes, crying about something she never witnessed; what’s wrong with her?!” United 93 got so mad at Woody and tells him “She has every right to care and your just making her mental health worse by saying such a horrible thing and so MANY PEOPLE DIED!” I love you, United 93!
