Good morning Josh. I just looked at the radar from Accu-Weather and the center of circulation is several miles away to the right of the line drawn by NHC. That’s why I’m not sold on NHC track and I think it’s going to make landfall around the Perry area. I normally just go by NHC but I’m favoring the GFS track. Thanks for everything Josh

It is moving east of due north but that could be temporary. We will probably see a nudge to the right.

@@joshsseverewx You’re right, I don’t think the NHC would change their cone of uncertainty I don’t want anyone to mistake that. But I do feel like you just stated that it may nudge to the right. And like you said, it maybe temporary as well

That reduction in Ocean Heat Content along the last 150 miles or so of Helene’s path will not have any detrimental effects on strengthening. OHC is the integral of thermal energy per unit volume of water originating from the surface to the sea floor. So, if you integrate Joules per kg with an interval of 1m from the surface down, you will only be allowed to count X meters of depth so if the water is only 1000m deep, your OHC will be the mean J/kg multiplied by the depth. That means that even if you had the exact same energy content per kg volume of water all the way to the bottom in two sections of ocean, the OHC will always be greater in the deeper water. In shallower water with 31C SST, it is possible that completely mixing the water column could still produce higher convective energy than a mixed column in an area of higher OHC. This is even more likely with a fast-moving storm. It’s just scraping the high SST and never encountering upwelled water.

I am confused. All radars showing pressure bottoming out to 940 MLB going over my area, but ALL wind predictions show high end tropical storm winds , up to cat 1 winds. Why this discrepancy ? I can accept even cat 2 possibility, but why such discrepancy between pressure and wind speed on every weather app ?
@joshsseverewxАй бұрын
It's a larger storm so the strongest wind will be concentrated near the center. I do believe NHC needs to up their wind forecasts.

Andrew was a wake up call in 1992 what a category 6 can do to an entire Dade county . No such thing as a cat 6 you say ? It broke the wind meter rated at 200 mph at Tamiami airport . That's a cat 6 💥 The world's largest F5 tornados had nothing on this Monster "
@TrahzyАй бұрын
Uh, no 200 mph gusts is still a Cat5. There is no 6. Also, the worst F5 tornadoes had winds well over 300 mph. Stop spreading misinformation, hurricanes winds aren't as powerful as tornadoes on average.
@ludedude5228Ай бұрын
@@Trahzy really ? I was at ground zero when it hit . Forget trees on top of houses . How about houses on top of houses . Your claiming that's not catastrophic damage 💥 and tornados have nothing as far as rain and water compared to an off shore hurricane carrying half the ocean with it "
@TrahzyАй бұрын
@ludedude5228 Where did I say it wasn't catastrophic damage? My grandparents lost their house to Andrew. All I said is there isn't a Cat6 and tornadoes have caused worse damage even though it's smaller areas.
@ludedude5228Ай бұрын
@@Trahzy Everyone knows there isn't a cat 6, but there hasn't been a revised edition since Andrew, which certainly qualifies its over 200 mph wind gust in the center . Look at the Hurricane rated wind speeds . Their ratings are increased approx. every 30 mph . Cat 5 starting at 157 mph. So to get to and above 200 mph wind speed is more than the 30 mph increase needed to go to a cat 6 , if compared to the other scales . So was there ever an official cat 6 ? No . But that's because no Hurricane ever reached Andrews wind speed to justify to a cat 6 " It was a freak storm of Historical significance 💥 Your grandparents will agree 💯
@TrahzyАй бұрын
@ludedude5228 I don't get what you don't understand, there's only a 30 mph increase until 157, then it's 157> meaning anything above is still a 5. Works the same for tornadoes except it ends at 200. They can be up to 300 and still be an EF5. That's just the way it is by definition, your personal opinion doesn't change the official scale.

Not enough time and ocean to get to that strength. If it had a couple more days at sea and wasn’t being affected by the Fujiwhara effect, it most definitely could have been a cat5 monster. Thank goodness it didn’t have the time and warm ocean to do so!

@TayKinGamingАй бұрын
Ummm wow.. is this what a low IQ statement looks like?? 🤔 😅 when a hurricane reaches cat3 status it is SCIENTIFICALLY called a “MAJOR” hurricane. Cat3-cat5 are classified as “MAJOR” hurricanes by science and accepted by western society. And yes, storms like this are a very very big deal. The storm surge alone could kill many if we didn’t have warnings saying “this is a major event and you need to prepare and not do anything stupid. Stay safe.” Not to mention to wind damage, tornadoes, flash floods, extensive long power outages, road wash outs and landslides…
