Aluminium Casting of a Jumping Jack Bull Ant Nest (Myrmecia nigrocinta) by Australian Ant Art™
australianantart
The first casting from this weekend where we cast five different Jumping Jack nests with varying results. Jumping Jack Bull Ants are very aggressive ants and will swarm out from a nest and hunt down the intruder, bringing their nasty venomous stings. They are about 13 mm long but can jump up to 10 cm. Each worker can reproduce and they can also enslave other species of ants. Also, the ground catches fire.
Cast Dimensions:
Weight: 9.9 kg (21.8 lb)
Height: 740 mm (29.1")
Length: 500 mm (19.7")
Width: 340 mm (13.4")
Filming by:

@@BonezyBoy en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_jumper_ant Four recent deaths. From the article: "The ant venom is particularly immunogenic for an insect venom; the venom causes about 90% of Australian ant allergies. In endemic areas, up to 3% of the human population has developed an allergy to the venom and about half of these allergic people can suffer from anaphylactic reactions (increased heart rate, falling blood pressure, and other symptoms), which can lead to death on rare occasions. Between 1980 and 2000, four deaths were due to anaphylaxis from jack jumper stings" Allergies like this are something that you can develop, rather than be born with. These guys are at risk of exactly that. As they point out in other videos, this isn't exactly the safest of professions.
