What I love about these close games is that it shows that every little thing throughout the game potentially matters. Every block and tackle, every yard, could ultimately be a deciding factor in who wins.

@@royalblueblood Doesn't it? It's not like BYU took their foot off the gas at any point because we were ahead. If Baylor was up by 1 point, our last drive wouldv'e looked exactly the same. Hall would have gotten down comfortably into field goal range, because Roderick wouldn't have taken risks to get into the endzone. Then, when Jake misses, we lose by 1. Would've been just like BYU-Utah in 2012, or BYU-Boise in 2004.

@@ekibirigeable Only by Vegas, not by any of the prognosticators. The difference is that Vegas odds are based on how many bets are placed on each side, not on actual odds of winning. The Vegas odds were established before news came out that BYU's top two offensive weapons were out for the game.

Haha yeah. That was the most annoyingly stressful game I've watched in a long time. All the 3rd and longs they gave up, them not getting the ball into the middle of the field at the end of regulation, which made that field goal much more awkward and difficult. Those goal posts slim down a good amount on short field goals from a wide ass college hash. I'm 90% sure he'd have just made that first one and won it right there...because why did he miss? He kicked it too straight...So that was beyond stupid that they didn't just get the ball into the middle of the field on 2nd down. Super easy. Snap it and Hall just runs over to the right a little bit then goes down. THEN on 3rd down you throw it away to stop the clock (which shouldn't have been an issue anyway because BYU took 2 unnecessary timeouts in the second half). Then in the first half they were very clearly having success with the short to midrange passing game and were getting shut down on runs, yet they started running the ball over and over and continually going 3 and out and giving baylor great field position each time. Like mannnn. That was extremely frustrating to watch. Amazing we still won even after all that.

But man I was amped as hell after Hall threw that absolutely MONEY pass for a TD right before half. It couldn't have been more perfect. Me and my brothers yelled so loud after that, haha. And all that to cap off that whole drive in which he made a bunch of great throws. That was so damn clutch. The offensive coordinator needs to be calling for Hall to throw more. And more specifically and ideally, plays designed for 15 yard passes (10-20). Should be pretty easy and safe throws for above average college QB's (which Hall definitely is). And it will reduce the number of those more predictable and pressure 3rd down situations.

As it expands more it will more closely mirror the NCAA basketball tournament where there have been some years the champion gets hot at the right time and comes through and wins it all despite several losses during the season and it will be similar in football.

Big 12 will be interesting without OU to win 9 of 10 or whatever ridiculous percentage of conference titles they have had recently. Looks like a good deal of parity, should be fun to see a winner out of k state, osu, byu, Baylor, and cincy. Figure those teams will be the cream of the crop year in year out. But I’m guessing okie state and Baylor will be happier swapping out games against OU and texas for however they split the conference schedule.

Yes it's a new rule. It's to prevent injuries and to prevent defensive blocking/holding to allow someone else to make the tackle.

Funny the other guy keeps calling it a chop block. A chop block is an offensive foul where one lineman blocks high and the other blocks low. A block below the waist is a defensive foul when a defensive player prevents an offensive player from making progress by hitting or tackling the offensive player below the waist. Hope that helps.
