The v10 has 60 mins (when using a suction tool on low suction) while the v11 has 60 minutes (with the torque drive head on a floor with the least resistance like hardfloors on low suction). So truly the v11 has 60 mons with a power head but the v10 has 35 min with a powerhead - even on low suction

I’m looking to get a vacuum dyson preferably. There is a lot of girls in the house no pets but the hair is just everywhere also 3 of them are kids so there is always crumbs, cereal,dirt, dried mud, and hair on the floor hard tile and wood as well as carpets (kinda fluffy it’s not the flat type) any recommendations of the vacuum the cheapest would always be best but also willing to splurge for something that’s worth it. Love the idea of cordless and light weight but if u know something that’s better for my usage Let me know any suggestions please

If you want a high performance Dyson, but want to get something less expensive, then you should go with a corded unit. Performance per dollar is just much less expensive with a corded unit vs. cordless. I'm drawn to the Dyson Big Ball Multi Floor Canister because of its versatility at cleaning surfaces above the floor. But I'm looking for something with a relatively low amount of sound. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems every vacuum in existence makes sound above conversation level. So my standard is more modest. I currently own a Hoover WindTunnel 2 (Model UH70801PCI) upright vacuum. It's pretty loud (not extreme), and am hoping to find something noticeably quieter. I don't expect you to know the sound level for that vacuum, but perhaps you'd be able to inform how the sound level for the Dyson Big Ball Multi Floor Canister compares to the other Dyson vacuums you showed?

The Dyson Big Ball Multi Floor canister is loud, I would estimate between 78-82 dB. It's a big, high power vacuum. In my experience, all uprights and canisters are going to be loud due to their power level. Dyson's V-series is quieter, between 70-76 dB depending on the model you go with. And then robot vacuums are going to be slightly quieter than that, with in the 66-70 dB range. Let me know if you have any other questions.

@@ModernCastle Thanks for the heads up! I think I'll go ahead and try out the Dyson Big Ball Multi Floor Canister, and as long as it sounds a bit less loud than my current vacuum, that should work. @@ModernCastle I picked up my Dyson Big Ball Multi Floor canister. I'm happy with the volume. It's significantly quieter than my Hoover WindTunnel 2 upright vacuum. The Hoover vacuum has the sound of this Dyson canister vacuum, but it adds the extra sound of its vibrating turbine on top of it. So it sounds roughly twice as loud. I believe that makes it about 10 decibels louder. With the Dyson canister on, I can have a conversation with someone 10 feet away. I cannot do that with the Hoover WindTunnel 2. You're right that it's not a quiet vacuum. But at least it's not super loud.

Whether you're using the soft roller brush or the multi surface brushroll, either will easily handle your cat hair, area rugs, and other standard vacuum needs.

Torn between the Dyson Big Ball Origin Barrel Vacuum and the Dyson Light Ball Multi Floor vacuum as they're both on sale at my local store (here in Australia)- we've got a dog that sheds a lot and that's our main concern, but unfortunately Dyson doesn't seem to send over many Animal Vacuums as they never have in in our stores :( Any advice for preferences please?

I would opt for the Dyson Light Ball Multi Floor, the Barrel vacuums (aka canister vacuums for my US / EU readers) aren't typically as good as the uprights at dealing with pet hair (at least in the case of the Dyson's we've tested). That said, both are really solid machines. It's hard to imagine you'd be dissatisfied with either choice. If you really like cleaning with a barrel / canister vacuum, there's nothing with that at all. Barrel vacuums are really nice if you end up cleaning lots of furniture, sofas, upholstery, and beds. However, I think the upright edges it out if you're doing mostly floor cleaning. So just ask yourself which you do more of.

What vacuum would you recommend for me?.. I have two English mastiffs and two cats so pet hair definitely adds up so I'm wondering, if I don't get one with a larger .5 bin, will I be having to stop and empty the canister a lot? I also have allergies. I have been using a bagged hoover model and am thinking of a bagless vac. I have a carpeted staircase and neck/shoulder issues so something to be able to vac staircase that doesn't weigh too much would be great. The Dyson Multi Floor / Animal both have so much suction that they can sometimes be hard to push on high pile carpets. So I would avoid those in your case. Depends on the price and your floor types. If you have lots of hard surface flooring or it's anything less than $400 I think that really increases the value. If it's more than $400 it just starts to make more sense to get V10 Absolute.

4:46 to 5:18: I don't expect vacuum cleaners to be engineered like the Mars Rover (although the setting-itself-right-up is pretty cool, I'll give you that!) But the Dyson canister of one of my clients gets stopped by it's own cord! At times, it even unplugged itself, as I pull on the thing! Yet, the cord is the only obstacle for sure you have to design for! The ball is not the wheels: tiny little wee things are under there...

I have a Rocket, it wasn’t enough suction so I bought the Dyson animal 2. It’s a great vacuum, but I can’t use it for my stairs that have a higher pile. Disappointed in that. Was never warned about that. I use it for my hard would floors and low pile area rugs. Amazing how well it sucks up old dirt and the pile is starting to come back through the high traffic areas. I will keep my Dyson, many things I do like about it, the long cord is great, my rocket I will keep since it still will be helpful.

Anything classified as "high pile" (or taller) has the potential to cause problems. Usually that's in the 0.5 to .75" range

I just got the animal 2. I HATE IT!!!! I cannot push it on any of my carpets or rugs. It just sucks sooo hard it won't let you move the thing. There is no way to reduce the suction like you can on earlier models. Soooo...I like the massive suction, but now have to choose from one or more of the home-made fixes posted on KZbin. I could drill a hole in the head, then cover it for hard floors. I can stick a 1 1/2" piece of pvc inside the head to keep it from sucking down so hard. Many fixes to be found if you look. Why, oh why did Dyson screw up the animal 2 so horribly!?

That's unfortunate. But also the most common complaint on the Animal 2...too much suction. If you can, I'd just return it. Don't try some hacky solution. I cannot imagine any of those would work very well. You're better off returning (or selling on Ebay / Craigslist) and buying a vacuum with variable suction, like the Dyson V10 or V11.

@@ModernCastle After hours of looking for fixes, the consensus seems to be: cut out the rubber bellows on only the 2 ends. Everyone says this solution does not change the suction on bare floors enough to notice at all. I don't care about voiding a warranty on a brush head. I just REALLY LOVE the overall amazing suction for so many other dirty places. . I'm gonna cut that rubber, dagnabbit.

For the car, just get any of the V-series vacuums. They are equally mobile (just convert to a handheld when you want to use it in the car). I talk about why I'm not a big fan of the V8 anymore on this page at the bottom - moderncastle.com/dyson-v6-vs-v7-vs-v8-vs-v10-vs-v11/ But basically...it just comes to down to cost. The Dyson V10 is now routinely very similar in price to the V8's price, while having more features, more suction, and a longer run time. As a result, I think for most consumers it just makes more sense to get the V10. The only way I would say the V8 is worth it is if you can find it massively on sale.
