Based on resale prices of designer bags, there are some brands and styles of luxury bags that really stand out in terms of holding their value the best. From Hermes to Louis Vuitton and Chanel, I also give insight into the 'formula' I use to help decide which bags make better investments than others financially.

the BKC in the smaller sizes (including the mini kelly) certainly hold their value very well but they are v frustrating to chase down in store. i spent the past 4 years of my life acquiring 6 of these from store and now i have very much had enough lol. where my budget could keep up my patience most certainly could not. i added the chanel 22 mini and picotin 18 recently - both so much more useful than a B or a K, and will be looking to add the side trunk later this year. glad to know that they all made it to your best investment list!!

I still have my Graffiti Speedy from LV & Stephen Sprouse collaboration which I believe was one of the first artist collabs. This bag sells now for ten times more than original price but I have no intention of selling it as it's my favourite bag.

I’m really surprised there’s no Chanel double flap. Everyone says Chanel classic flap has got a great resale value , especially if it’s rare , or limited colour.

They resell for less than RRP atm. You can pick up an excellent condition preloved double flap for $6K and they want $10K in store now! Crazy!!

Only the 18 picotin holds value. The 26 is a bag you will lose money on. Maybe half or more of a loss in investment

No I didn’t. I don’t like the coco top handle and the trendy I have seen sell for a fair bit less than the currently retail price. Business affinity bags - I find - sell around their rrp

@@Handbagholic I beg to differ. I can find a business affinity small for about $5-6 grand Canadian in the resell market. A small coco handle will cost at least $8-10 grand. Retail with taxes is around 8 in Canada. It depends on the size you get as with most brands. Even larger birkins are trading for less than smaller ones right now.

The Lv as a luxury brand, and pathetically the neverfull is the most copied luxury tote bag ever . I can't see how it holds its value or how it is a good investment 🤔

If you look at the resale value of the bag when in good condition, it holds its value well. that's why it makes for a good investment bag + price increases helps it retain its value since it's the most desired bag from LV.

@Handbagholic thanks for your response. However, my understanding is that if a particular brand or a bag is heavily copied and saturated like the neverfull, it doesn't actually make a good investment? And if you were buying a handbag purely as investment, would you personally buy the neverfull?

@@soraya6472 I do own a Neverfull and financially, it's been a good investment if I were to sell today yes. You can't compare a Neverfull to a classic flap, the classic flap is nearly 8 times more expensive. You would lose a few hundred £ / $ on a Neverfull, you would lose thousands on a classic flap (if purchased brand new, then sold soon after). That makes, in my book, the Neverfull a better investment than a classic flap as in you lose alot less money, because it cost less in the first place.
