Love your videos. I've been using that bag for about a year now and it's surprisingly held up well its the only bag I have at the moment and I use it for going back and forth to practice and for gigging I really have no complaints other than a lack of dividers inside. Still just as sturdy as the day i bought it

No joke, I just ordered the 22 inch version of this bag for $16 (the 20 inch version is now $19). Still a pretty good deal. When I opened the seemingly oversized box with what felt like way too much bubble wrap, I noticed that the bag seemed really heavy inside the bag. That’s because there was a Sabian Xs20 ride with brilliant finish. Brand new, with the plastic sleeve and everything. So I got a bag and a $125 cymbal for less than $20 I’m tempted to buy another to see if it happens again

a gong drum is pretty close to a floor tom and are usually setup as the last of the toms... if it was phil collins kit, the pancake drum would just serve a normal floor tom since he doesn't play with bottom heads, basically a "fast sized" or "hyper drive" large-diameter floor tom also, he said "kinda" so you're being "kinda" pedantic lol #nailedit

Don't pitch that strap. Use it with a floor tom to make a sling snare.
@RyanAlexanderBloom7 жыл бұрын
I have a different bag, but the shoulder strap is indispensable... though you just dispensed it into the trash. I love how I can carry cymbals and 2 drum cases at the same time by using the shoulder strap. Saves a trip to the car. Hands free operation. I kind of wish that my pedal case had one or maybe my smallest tom case.

I got this as my first cymbal bag a few years ago. Started using the strap to carry, but strap clips immediately broke and I wound up denting my cheap b8 cymbals. Put those fake carabineers on the end of each strap and still holds up today with some holes at the bottom.
@shakeweight117 жыл бұрын
I borrowed that exact bag from a friend for a gig or two because my old road runner bag broke. it was perfectly fine untill I got my new zildjian bag. the straps hurt my hands after carrying it for a while, and having the option to put my zildjian bag on my back is great.
@Abby-wj5je7 жыл бұрын
My school has some of these. We use it to bring our marching band crash cymbals to games. We bring 3 of them each with 4-5 varying sized sets of cymbals. So like 8-10 individual. They’ve held up better than our Zildjian bag which tore at the end of our second season using it, to be fair though it had 15 cymbals in it. Mostly ride and suspended to be put on the front ensemble

The best part of that bag is the misspelling.... How many quality checks and staff members that bag went thru... and they ALLLLLLL misspelled it. But then again... that could be the price cut explanation. Nobody knew what a PSDDED was... they assumed it was for some pseudo-phsyciatric phenomenon, and said... wow... we better cut this price by 2/3rds.

I bought the 24" I got it for 20$ for the money you can't go wrong. Great for gigging and on average I take 8-10 cymbals with me and I've had it for a little over a year and the padding at the bottom has work down quite a bit but for the money you really can't go wrong with it. But for touring I can't say I'd recommend it.

I bought one of these from Amazon when I snagged a 24 in jazz ride. it works, but is very barebones, and doesn't really protect the cymbals from knocking into each other. it works if you need to carry a ride and a pair of hats like I do, but I wouldn't recommend it for people who use 3 or more big cymbals.
@hillie477 жыл бұрын
What about sheets of felt from a local hobby, craft or fabric store? Put those in between the cymbals to protect them from each other and then even an outer layer if you would want to do that. That leaves some concern for the quality of the handle and stitching. Nothing worse than cheapskating on a bag to find that you'll spend a few hundred bucks on fixing and replacing broken stuff.

I found an black carrying case that was once used for a small outdoor fire pit to carry it around. It holds a 22" ride perfectly and has plenty of room for my other cymbals. It is a hard shell so I don't have to worry about the cymbals getting beat up if I set it down. The only problem I have found with it, is that since there is a lot of room the cymbals may move around so I have to find some 1" foam to place in between each cymbal. I know it is a bit much but I like taking care of my stuff. I linked a Walmart link for those who want to look at it, it is practically identical to the one in the link but mine has longer handles. www.walmart.com/ip/UniFlame-24-Black-Firebowl-with-Folding-Legs-and-Carry-Case/14272894

what is the product that you use to lube ip your tension rods? Also, i just want to say thanks to you for making this channel which is awesome. years ago i had an idea to do a similar style channel going mostly over the techy side of drums and some shop talk because i am much better with drum knowledge than i am an actual player but i just figured people would laugh at my inexperienced ass anyway so i never got it off the ground. BTW i am not saying that anyone is laughing at you, you are so on point with all your vids, that comment was that they would laugh at my dweeb ass on here trying to do what you are a master of. so thank you for this channel, it inspires me to get back into teching hard for the love of it. but if in the future i do come across a cool trick or hack ill slide it over to ya and you can take it as far as it will go and you owe me nothing. i love the way you science the shit out of your vids and if i ever send you something u like, please feel free to make it your own. you my hero!

Hey Dave, I really dig your channel and wanted to ask if is it ok to refinish a gigging snare with tung or linseed oil? I wanted to go with it because of the natural and tactile surface. Will it last long enough?
@rdavidr7 жыл бұрын
Most snare shells are protected by the hardware since theyre so shallow. Meaning that if you drop it or it gets hit by something the hardware will most likely get hit, not the shell. BUT linseed oil and tung oil are more of a natural finish, so there isnt much protection for the wood. Something that leaves a film finish is better at protecting the wood.

So, uh... Lance is leaving KZbin. Thoughts?
@RoeShamBoe7 жыл бұрын
He had a really good idea with The Cymbal Project but there's a lot of other stuff on the channel and TCP really gets lost among all the other videos. I really do think he could make that channel successful by ditching everything that isn't The Cymbal Project, and making each video like 20-30 mins long showing the whole process for a single cymbal... for example, "Welcome to Ep #25 - Zildjian K Ride into a Splash" or whatever.... then a brief history of how he got the cymbal (craigslist, i found it in the trash, my neighbor gave it to me, whatever), montage showing the chronological work with inserts for explaining anything unusual or interesting in the process, then finish work, then demo in the studio, maybe some A/B with store-bought splash, etc..., then "have a nice day see you next week" As it stands, the videos are currently kind of random from Ep to Ep ....sometimes longer sometimes shorter, etc. I think he would really benefit from having each Ep standardized in terms of storyboard or flow. Also, from watching various videos he made about his problems with youtube, i think there may have been some unrealistic expectations in terms of #s and revenue on his part because even famous name-brand "music" channels like Sweetwater (less than 150K subs) or zildjian (92K subs) or tama (less than 25K subs) have very low #s compared to channels like Vanoss (over 20M subs) or other really large sub-count channels so you can't really expect millions of subs for a super niche channel. I hope he comes back and focuses solely on The Cymbal Project cause it's a super interesting concept (I found BOTH Lance AND Dave by searching "cymbal mods" on KZbin)... I think he's just gotta focus solely on TCP and make sure to get a standardized outline/storyboard for each Ep. The Channel's identity should "The Cymbal Project" not "Lance Campeau"

I kinda get a pretty egotistical impression from him. I could be totally wrong but when he doesn't answer questions from other cymbal smiths then it's kinda off putting and makes me kinda lose interest. My thoughts.
