While I do agree with you on all said, concerning the theory that the dead is in a state of sleep, but it clearly conflicts with the account given by Jesus in Luke 16: 19-31. The rich man was certainly not sleeping! I believe in a place of torment (not hell, yet!) and a place called Paradise where the saved goes until the rapture. When the thief who was crucified with Jesus ask that he be remembered, Jesus told him that he will be in Paradise, not sleeping! Be safe and good day in Jesus name.

In the first four verses, Paul is strongly encouraging us to offer ‘supplications’, intercessions etc. for others . God did not give the Bible in King James Version. The Old Testament was written in Hebrews and Aramaic and the New Testament was written in Greek. Those were the original languages. All the versions we have today are translations from these original language.

I’m a life long SDA and a year ago I would have not even questioned Mark on any of this……until I actually went and read and listened to catholic theologians who tackle these topics. What I found is that I was never actually shown WHY Catholics AND ALL OF THE OTHER ANCIENT CHURCHES were UNANIMOUSLY aligned on EACH OF THESE POINTS. These are NOT Roman Catholic teachings. They are the teachings of ALL ANCIENT CHRISTIANS. And they believed these things BECAUSE they believed they were revealed in scripture. I was definitely NOT equipped by the SDA church to actually deal with their claims on the basis that the Catholic/orthodox churches ACTUALLY present them. I was told a caricature/strawman of Roman Catholicism. I’m feeling a little deceived honestly. I’m not saying the Catholics are definitely right. But what I’m saying is that these same old Adventist punchlines and proof texts don’t truly deal with the issues in depth. And when you do look at these issues in depth, the issues are not as clear as you’d like to think. We need to get better. We aren’t in the 1800’s anymore. We can’t just keep pedaling the same tired old arguments that our pioneers used. They don’t hold up anymore. And now, in the age of the internet, people like me are realizing they don’t hold up. Adventist leadership had better step up to the plate and really get a handle on this stuff or there is going to be a mass exodus in the near future. And that exodus will be toward the ancient faith, ie, Catholicism/Orthodoxy. They have stepped up their game. We must do the same.

Also Jesus told his Apostles to go and baptize all nations. With this Jesus ordained His new covenant. Jesus Christ never said ignore what I ordained with you and come straight to me. The massage from the bible was to his Apostles, the new priests for God's new covenant. You dont ignore , what he ordained, take their book and pretend Jesus is talking to you. By faith alone we live what Not ignore what Jesus ordained as long as we have faith we are saved. This last one is of satan. And yes in the old covenant god had intercessors, the phrofets where intercessors. God would talk to them and they would speak to the people. This man must be very lukewarm catholic, he dosent now catholic faith at all . The lukewarm i will spit out of my mouth, Jesus said. They go to protestantism. The fables are much more interesting. Jesus Christ established a very humble covenant.

The books of the Bible that we have now were first recorded in the 360ad period when saint Athanasius and Pope Demisis first recorded them as scripture accepted by the churches. Matthew to Hebrews was accepted other books were accepted by some churches but not by others and Revelation was the last to be accepted because some people didn't believe it was by John. Unfortunately this man doesn't fit biblical Christianity using the bible only or the bible plus tradition. Pastor Finley believes the bible plus the writings of Ellen white including the great controversy theme in Ellen Whites writings and also the clear word bible a mixture of the scriptures and Ellen White theories together should be believed. The doctrine of an Investigative Judgement is an Adventist doctrine but not found in scripture it is only found in Ellen Whites writings and is a product of tradition in the 1800s when people believed Jesus was returning and when it didn't happen it was made into a doctrine

Even SDA needs somebody to interpret Scripture and that is how you ended up emphasizing Sabbath observance, which you do not find in other Protestant or post-Reformation denomination who read and interpret the SAME 66-book Bible. 2. Even John managed to converse with one of the elders in heaven (Rev. 5:5, 7:13-14). 5. Catholics do believe that all baptized Catholics are priests, both males and females. The ministerial priesthood is based on God's promise that He will make levitical priesthood everlasting (Exo. 40:15) and Jer. 33:18 prophesied that levitical priests will continue offering sacrifice forever. SDA fails to meet what Exod. 40:15 and Jer. 33:18. 6. The second commandment does not forbid making statues. God Himself asked Moses to make a likeness of a serpent (Num. 21:8), likeness of cherub (Exod. 25:19). God allowed Solomon to have likeness of cherubs (1 Kings 6:24-26) and oxen (1 Kings 7:25) in Jerusalem Temple. What is forbidden is worshipping them and Catholics do not worship those statues. You also have photos of your loved ones, they are also likeness under heaven, regardless they are correct likeness or not. While you do not worship your loved ones or their photos, you are angry if somebody spits on photos of your loved ones. Neither you place them in the toilet or stick them on garbage bins. 7. The Hebrew word, שָׁחָה, translated as to bow does not always means “to worship”. The same verb is used in Gen. 23:7, 12 that says Abraham bowed down to the people, in Gen. 33:2 Jacob bowed to Esau, in Gen. 42:6 Joseph’s brother bowed to Joseph, Ruth bowed to Boaz in Ruth 2:10, prophet Nathan bowed to David (1 Kings 1:23). The last three examples show that they bowed until their faces touched ground, or they prostrated, just like Muslims do when they pray. The other word, סְגִד, also means worship but the verb is used in Daniel 2:46, which KJV translated as “Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and WORSHIPPED Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.” Daniel did NOT stop him from doing so. 8. There is no Catholic teaching that says the kingdom of God is ONLY on earth as pastor Finley declared. 9. The Catholic Church does NOT reduce the number of ten commandments.

In the 1970's, Bacchiocchi was the first and only non-Catholic to ever be allowed to study at the Catholic Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. . . . his research showed that the change from Sabbath to Sunday worship occurred far earlier in history than had been previously admitted by Adventists. In fact, the change happened long before the papacy was established in power. These findings cast considerable doubt on whether Sunday worship could be considered allegiance to the papacy since the practice was well established throughout Christianity centuries before the first Pope arose.

That is not true. The apostles wrote with the authority that God gave them. That is why they are in the Bible. Mark Finely your explanation is shallow and inaccurate. The protestants do not have the worship but sermon. More important see the believe of the early Church. All solas are unbiblical as well as they created a new false theology and tradition. Orthodox and Catholics have basically the original teaching and tradition. @HL365 that is the problem problem SDA has twisted scripture to say what it wants to say, however if you were to go back in time to first century Christians and the SDA would fall short and would be considered heretical., but don't take my word for it. The history of SDA is an offspring of the Millerites which William Miller founded. William Miller prophesied the end of the world in 1843 which never happened then switch it to 1844 and that never happened, disillusioned the new movement became Adventist where Ellen White assumed false prophetic revelations, again don't take my word for it search it out. I was born into Catholisism but not properly catechised and fell into protestant views for years. I finally sat down and began to study early church doctrine and came to one conclusion it all pointed Catholic or Orthodox. I'm not plugging for Orthodoxy but you would be much better off there than in SDA.
