The production quality of Iona's channel is way beyond her 16k subscribers. Love the women's game and wish BL the best. I'm not disagreeing with anything said here, but as a fan, watching the great women players hitting greens with hybrids from over 160 yards is something special.

Iona I love watching your videos. In respect to the comparison of men versus women in golf, I think it’s clear that women have more finesse than the men. I watched you beat Rick Shiels straight out on Crail. That was awesome! Keep up the great work.

Women's professional golf is in my opinion more enjoyable to watch as it is definitely more relatable. The acurcuracy and consistency is out of this world. There doesn't appear to be the same egos in the game as compared to the men. I honestly feel as though the women, appreciate more that they are actually playing a sport for a living and that it is a privilege... Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺

Great and factual comments coming from both these women. Women are not the same as men thankfully, and I wouldn't want it any different. I personally do not watch ANY men's golf but love to watch the ladies play. More in line with the yardages that I play with such great swings to watch. Amazing quality video and a new subscriber.

Hi Iona, thank you for bring us this interview with Bronte Law, I first noticed her last year what volunteering at several LPGA events. I agree with the two of you, having volunteered at many Men’s and Women’s events, I feel that the courses are setup much harder than they are for the men just by the lengths. I would love to see the women play course lengths that are more appropriate and that will help to attract more people to the LPGA and more women to the game of golf. I would love to see more women on the course when I play. Ken

As an above average but older male golfer, I love to watch the women's game as I watch how they manage their way around a course at a length that I might play at. I do not relate in any way to some excellent professional male player smacking that ball 310 to 350 yards. Their swing speed is about my ball speed. Keep up the good work on Ladies professional golf. awesome product that keeps on getting better.

Once again, a nice and thoughtful spotlight on a professional golfer. Appreciate the way they get to have a relaxed conversation in an informal environment. Really liked Ms. Law's comments about comparative distances on the PGA/LPGA Tours. It's the same for most recreational golfers; when you're having to hit 3-wood for your second shot on most Par 4s, you're playing too far back!

Hi to both of you. I certainly agree about how women have to play a more difficult game. My wife an I have had more or less the same handicap trough 25 years and it is no doubt that her golf game is more difficult relative to the course than mine. This also makes it more difficult to be a beginner and get into the game as a lady. Thumbs up for both of you.

Thanks again Iona, slowly catching up with all your videos. I said it about the Adam and Phil Scott episodes and I'll say it here, the way you have a conversation with your guests is up there with Michael Parkinson. I loved the discussion on the length of womens professional golf courses, I had no idea there was such a differnce to the men's game. Would much rather see the ladies hitting driver and a shorter iron into a tough pin. As Bronte said, if the course is set up properly, it doesn't have to be long to have the better golfer play well. Lovely chat. BTW, hope your camera operator survived the mauling.

I love watching the LPGA/LET. So much talent in the women's game. Law makes an excellent point about the women actually playing longer courses relative to how far they hit the ball than the men do. I went to the PGA Championship in Atlanta in 2021 and followed Salas, Korda, and Boutier on Saturday. It was just a ball-striking clinic. Lizette was striping these hybrids and fairway woods into greens and hitting it to 15 feet over and over and over. She was even hitting it inside Nelly's short irons and wedges. Of course, Nelly won, but I became a big Lizette Salas fan that day.

@ianbarton2581 Жыл бұрын
Totally agree with Bronte about length of course and saleability. The PGA tour in America set ost events up for birdies because it draws crowds and creates excitement. If the LPGA and LET played shorter courses to allow the ladies to score more birdies then the same excitement would follow, so more fans and TV viewers, more sponsors and advertising revenue resulting in more prize money etc etc Love your videos

I really enjoyed the interview and the golf. At 71, I'm an older guy, but hope to break my age this summer. I tied my age last year, so just need to keep my short game sharp. It seems the women on the LPGA and also you, Iona, have a short game as good as any male pro...:) My favorite Break 75 was when you played with Rick at the Scottish course and tied the course record for women at 65...you were putting lights out and hitting all your shots like a pro...maybe you once played on the tour?

I am surprised that the equipment manufacturers do not push harder to elevate promotion of women's golf. At my local course, participation rates appear to be growing, but very slowly. I think On the road with Iona is one of the best kept secrets in golf. Great guests, great production, great host. Secondly women’s golf is real. Bombing a driver 320 and then following up with a 200 7i is not real. How does the average Joe/Josephine relate to that? Women’s consistency, stroke play, course management, precision, is no less wow and I can more closely relate to the distances (although relate is all I do). Great channel, great work.

That was a Great question: “what needs to happen to bridge the gap…?”. Women’s golf is great, I think it sells itself “when” it gets an audience. So creative events or stages that bring more exposure. My wife suggests some professional co-ed tournaments with tee boxes set to appropriately account for the differences could help increase audiences.

Watching your series has made me realise to be very good at this game , you need to start as early as you can, after a certain age, you are never going to be a low handicapper% I guess there are exceptions to the rule.

Cool, great to see the black lab, ours wouldve loved it and to not have to leave her at home. My course allows dogs from sunday tea time, alas our pooch is too old now. Interesting about the distances, the women seem to score very low as it is, but seems a fair argument

You should go to more of the old Tom Morris courses in Scotland. Do some series about the famous gold architects of Scotland- braid, Morris maybe to start. You could do a Lundin and Levan and why the course is still split up. Play with LPGA pros or famous people or the head pros of the course ….. It is fun to watch the affordable courses too.
@purangesmith90532 жыл бұрын
I follow ladies golf as I appreciate and understand their game as our club distances are much closer, so I totally understand the unfairness of having to hit a drive and a long iron/rescue/wood into some par 4s whereas professional men would have a short iron In. For parity if men are driving then having short irons in then so should the women and course length on their tours should be adjusted accordingly. We could also find the best golfer then regardless of sex.

I feel that woman's golf is the only sport that is comfortably on a level with the men's game. I am now a senior and my yardages are not dissimilar. The skill level is far above most men including myself and mostly done with a smile.👍

Love this: golfing entertainment with an interview. I will say this about the dogs: dogs in the UK I found to be much better behaved than here in the states...which makes Bonte's point about them being better behaved than most humans accurate because dogs aren't being trained out here very well. Also, her comment about the fundamentals being key to golf quality levels so well with what Ben Hogan said in his book, "Five Lessons." He believed most golfers should be able to shoot in the 70s. What's more, I agree very much with her statement that Women's golf, as a commodity, could be bolstered by implementing her ideas; and how cool would it be to have shorter courses with both LPGA and PGA players playing side by side?!

On the topic of length vs the men. I’d like to see the ball change take place that limits how far the men can hit. I remember a recent open that had an extremely long par 3 and they were complaining about hitting long irons / woods in and not being able to stay on the green. Yeah…..welcome to our world 😂

@brianshubert13332 жыл бұрын
I both agree and disagree with Bronte regarding course length. I'd argue the women's game right now is much closer to the way the courses were designed to be played. I personally find it much more interesting to watch someone use every club in the bag than I do to watch players hit driver/wedge into every par 4. That said, I do agree that if a course is well designed, shortening it isn't going to make it less interesting. I also believe that the continued lengthening of courses is making it such that if you aren't a bomber you have no chance at competing, so it actually excludes a lot of excellent golfers from contention.
@Chazthefurr2 жыл бұрын
Regarding the length of courses for professional ladies events, it is good to see them playing clubs nearer to amateur players. We just cannot identify with 300+yard drives and wedges of 175 yards. We are not Rory, or anything like him. This is especially true of senior golfers like me. I have watched ladies golf and for a while what put me off were a large number of very similar Oriental names - stupid really, but I wanted more of our own golfers to be competing at the very top.
@stevebuchmann986810 ай бұрын
An interesting debate about course length. As a weekend amateur, I play off yellow (championship being white in the UK). I would support the pro women playing off yellow if it meant playing the course as it is meant to be played in terms of club selection and scoring.

IONA a lot of men like watching golf because we are closer to the distances of women so it is easier to relate . Whilst watching the women's amateur golf at Manchester golf club that was the impression I got ,OK they wasn't pro,s but it was so good to watch and the standard was great . Would someone please work out how long a womens course should be in relation to the men . I love your channel , I'm ready for a binge watch , Big hugs IONA.

enjoyed the video. Lets have a game where the men and woman play at the same time. Not against each other, woman against woman man against man. Play two men and two women per 4 some. Men tee off from their tees and women from theres. After the tee shot the play should be the same. Then lets see who is the better players.
@daverobinson68822 жыл бұрын
Agree with Bronte re length of courses can relate to what she says 64 so obviously lost distance with driver etc so 420+ yards par 4 now more like a 4+ length alone shouldn't be the parameter of how hard a course is.
@RichardPostance3 ай бұрын
Honestly believe that womens golf is one sport where you folks have a product that stands up against the male game on merit, relatable to all, skill based not just power and fiercely competative. Sad to see some great golfers leaving the game early but great to hear such common sense on this video, sad that it's not as common as it should be!
