While i haven't thought about it as a word for the year. I know I have been using the word balance to describe where I want to be with KZbin,, my business and my personal life. I've put a lot of life on hold the past few years building a channel, so balancing everything has to become the priority.

I signed up KZbin in 2005. Uploaded 2 videos to share with friends. Then that's it. After all those year, sometimes I say I wish I videographed my life. As a 40 years old dad, this year I quit my paid job and started my own business. Moved to a new city. My life changed totally. I just want to record these days for my children. 10 years later I want to turn back and see my progress maybe my failures. My kids may also understand me better as a witness of all the events they I will be go through. But I don't have the courage... Negative comments.. Feeling cringe.. procrastination stress etc. I don't know..

No better time to start than right now! Don't worry about negative comments, other people's opinions. Do it for "future you" to watch and enjoy the life that was. Good luck!

I saw your comment while writing mine above @doganaydogan1178, and your comment resonated with me as well. The first step - to start - is always the toughest one (trust me, been there myself!). If you want to create, for you, for your kids, go and do it. Is it tough? Yes. Can it be scary sometimes? Yes. But is this worth doing, for long run, and see where your 10 year journey took you? Absolutely. P.S. I hear you. Uploaded one video in 2008. Then a few more in 2009. Nothing ever since, until end of 2022 on my new channel. Let's create in 2023 and beyond!

I had the same problem I opened a separate account in October. I think not until 4 or 5 weeks ago I finally uploaded my first videos. Im a very passionate futbol (soccer) and I wanted to make a channel where I talked about games like match previews and match reviews and all sort of fun stuff about futbol but I was scared that I would get made fun of. But after I uploaded my first video I got more confident and I’ve got like 5 videos on my channel. My advice is just click upload and don’t go back. Just upload the first and don’t look back.

@@boostedbiker3878 you got this just press upload on your first video and trust you want ever look back I had that same problem as. Until I just decided to press upload. I was nervous my friends or family would make fun of me but once I uploaded my first video I got positive feed and now even one of my friends wants to join on my Idea.

This video title should be "How To Be A Successful Spiritually Grounded Human Being in 2023." Your testimony is powerful and applies to much more than content creation. I have been binging your tutorials and have found them more valuable than most I can only get halfway through by other folks. But this video hit different, it encapsulates how to be a successful creator, moreover, how to be a good person and to take care of yourself in order to make meaningful and interesting stories. A sincere thank you for putting this into your library of videos.

"thriving" was my one word for a few years. A few months ago, it changed to "production". As an editor, I've literally scrutinized many millions of words. So the one word isn't all that big of a deal. But I know lots of words are your routine too Jeven.

Thanks for this video Javen. Balance is something I’ve been struggling with. Motorcycle riding and adventures are my passion and I love sharing my content BUT, I also have two other brick and mortar small businesses, a wife and three kids so juggling all that and still being able to make content to grow my channel has been a struggle. This video absolutely outlines what I would like to do for 2023. Have balance and stick to a schedule to help minimize the stress. Thanks again, your content is always helpful. 🤙🏼

It’s a game changer. At first I was super anxious cause there was things I could be doing in my “off” time but after a while it has become super refreshing to not think about being a creator. Working on automating parts of my business so I can adopt a 4 day work week and use Fridays as my day to go mountain biking or something like that.

Thank you for your such a beautiful advice. You are truly a good mentor I find in KZbin. This year in 2023 I am going for a word 'Discipline'. Currently I am producing videos just for my fun and in the year 2024 I plan to be a full time content creator. I will follow the word discipline to create something new every week this year so I can be consistent next year.

Didn't think I would watch this one to the end, but I did. Bravo Jeven. Very much in line with what you said, I've been spending time since Sunday thinking about the goals and vision for my business this year. "What do I want?" I haven't committed to a word, but the theme is similar to what you said, in balancing and focusing. I realized I need to DEFOMO. Don't Engage in Fear Of Missing Out. Thanks Jeven. Happy New Year!

This is some great guidance. I agree with all of them and I've come to all the same conclusions. The one thing I'm working on is consistency and batching. Not at the stage of having a large team yet but it's not something I'm planning to do, however large my channel grows. Your observation about how goals are useful but life and circumstances change things along the way and we have to be flexible. Having a word vs having a resolution is brilliant, my word for the year is Prayer. Cheers, and thanks!

@@TheThinkersBible thank you, I appreciate your kind words. I wish I could take credit, but it is a more or less quote attributed to, I believe, Napoleon. I suspect there are versions of it from military leaders and military strategists of every culture, throughout human history. Studying the art of war can be useful, and has some value in guiding and developing business plans and strategies, I think.

Thanks, good stuff to think about as I start my own KZbin journey in the coming months. I have come to think about the wildly successful creators and have realized that while I want to become a KZbinr I don't really need to be one of those creators whose every moment seems to revolve around making the next video or to be constantly amped up and leading a life designed to make others want to emulate that life and buy all of the toys that make it possible. For me I am coming to realize that what I need to do is be of service and help others improve their own lives. That would be my central goal this year. So the word is going to be "service."

Thank you Jeven and all the best in 2023! For me the 2022 was finally the year I started my KZbin journey. It was probably back in 2020 I decided I want to make it happen, but then, the usual excuses: life happens, covid happens and all that, so it was finally in May 2022 I created my KZbin channel and finally started posting videos in November when I came back home from my motorbike trip around Turkey - which itself was a dream I wanted to make happen for many many years! Your videos - and I watched your content for most part of 2022 - help me on my journey day by day. I found you when I was looking into how to tell a story with a video. Then boom, everything was a steep learning curve - never before I did any videos for KZbin or other platforms. My background is photography, and yes, in the past looong ago I did shoot Super8 short films, so called Straight8 format where you think about the shots, sequence, the story in advance and just shoot those shots assembling it to the film directly in the camera. So that helped a bit, but not much. As a new kid on the block, my word for 2023 is CREATE, and this is why this video of yours resonated with me on so many levels. I'm 45+, kids and family, a business to run - KZbin is merely something I want to phase into over the longer time. Everything in life comes in the right time I guess. But. I wished I listened to a friend of mine in 2008/9-ish who told me - do KZbin, do your analogue photography tutorials stuff, Super8 shooting tutorials. I tried one video on my personal KZbin accounts back in 2008 titled How to wind a (double)Super8 film onto a lomo-tank reel - just checked - 14 years ago, 7.2k views, geez back then shot on a Video8 tape camera and digitalized with a analog-digital video converter on my PC! I guess that's why the comment from @doganaydogan1178 below resonates with me as well - I did not have the courage and had all the excuses. So, I'm going to CREATE in 2023, solo producer, solopreneur way. Excited to see where this journey takes me!

This is such a great video. Not just a video, great counsel from someone who has been through it already. It really is too bad so few people have invested the time to watch this one. They really are missing out. I appreciate so much of what you said. From an outsider looking in, I'd describe your current state (your word for right now) as stride. You have found your stride. When you start out on a long backpacking trip, it can take a little while to find the cadence and speed but when you do, it just flows. That's what I see happening here in your reflections. Thanks for taking the time to make this and share. I appreciate you.

I like balance, but my word for this year is focus. Last year was something like discipline but more in the fitness side of my life. I did my at home workouts every weekday and stuck to it till the end so I could tell my story on IG (still haven’t because I’m kinda holding myself back to be honest). This year it’s gonna be focus. To focus on doing the things I know I have to do for both KZbin and for IG because I know I can do this as long as I stay focused. I’m gonna screenshot my comment so I can see it again throughout the year. Appreciate the video!

Thanks Jeve for sharing your experience .I am from India and content creator based in Cape Town .I am into the same stage of life like you where i am having a dedicated job to do ,a family to take care .I produced almost 140+ videos for my channel (although my channel didnt grow as much) from last 3 years with a discipline approach .and spent a lot of time in learning from big youtubers ..I started with small and now i am using sonyA7S3 with GM lens ..I will explain you a typical situation where I am as of now .I am in a hurry to create as many as videos before I leave Cape Town as i will not get this kind of content in my place in India .Thats where I get confused my self what is my goal if i am go back to India and in which direction i will take my channel once i am back home ..does it worth for me to spend hours of hours of learning and then producing the videos currently where the future is not clear ..Believe me it demotivates my self some times ..but then i am asking my self i am getting slowly old so i need to capture as much as possible so that in my latter stage of life i can watch my own videos and memories and have some virtual friends with whom i am can interact ..So some times i get stress of thinking time is running out and so also age and the same time my channel is not growing to the extent what i dreamt ..just 600+ subscribers from last 3 years ..anyways i will continue to do until i enjoy to see my own videos ..and i hope i will get a goal on where to head latter once i go to back to India to my village ..as of now i have not having clear direction so i follow other youtubers to understand myself if i have the same taste
